Universal’s long-running relationship with Blumhouse continues as the film production company will be part of the revamped Horror Make-Up Show at Universal Studios Florida.
Universal Horror Make-Up Show Featuring Blumhouse
Universal Orlando’s Horror Make-Up Show is an audience participation show that takes place in the Pantages Theater in the Hollywood section of Universal Studios Florida. After browsing a prop-filled lobby, guests step inside a “make-up studio” to watch two hosts recreate different special effects and make-up from Universal horror films.
The previous incarnation of the show closed May 12, 2026, with Universal stating that a “reimagined” version of the show was set to open in Winter 2026. The promised new show will feature “classic and modern horror properties along with shockingly fun surprises – all while staying true to the comedic and irreverent vibe that guests love.” Before, the most recent clips featured in the show were from the 2017 The Mummy.
Today, October 9, Universal Orlando shared on its official X account that the show is returning, now with Blumhouse involved:
In this live show, discover how Hollywood’s top special effects artists have terrified moviegoers for over 100 years — from Universal’s classic monsters to the modern horrors of Blumhouse. Details coming soon.
At the time of the original show’s closure, we speculated that the reimagined show would include newer properties like Terrifier or Blumhouse, and it seems our predictions were correct. No further details or dates were provided in the post.
