Exterior walls are beginning to enclose the Monsters, Inc. door coaster building at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, while new aerial photos reveal the suspended track taking shape inside.
Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster Construction

The latest aerial images from bioreconstruct show progress on both the exterior and interior of the massive coaster building behind the future Monstropolis area of Hollywood Studios.
Exterior Walls and Roofing
Blue wall panels now cover portions of one exterior wall, beginning to conceal the steel framework and interior attraction floors. Darker blue panels extend across sections of the lower portion, with a lighter blue section installed above. Rectangular openings remain within the newly covered areas.
Much of the adjacent wall remains exposed, offering a look through the horizontal framing into the building. Workers using boom lifts can be seen alongside the newly installed panels, while a tall scaffolding stair tower stands against the exterior.
Roof decking also covers substantial portions of this side of the structure. Other sections remain open overhead, allowing aerial views of the track and supports inside.
With wall installation underway and roofing spreading across the structure, the coaster building is gradually becoming enclosed, so these photos may be some of our last previews of the attraction interior before the coaster itself is totally blocked from view.
Suspended Coaster Track
Inside the building’s large main room, pale gray suspended track sections now curve among the dark coaster supports.
Closer views reveal several highly banked curves, with the rails twisting as the track bends through the room. The light-colored track contrasts with the dark cylindrical columns and angled support arms surrounding it.
The installed sections remain disconnected in places, with exposed ends showing where additional pieces will extend the course. More supports stand across the concrete floor, outlining portions of the ride’s future path.
Interior Floors and Loading Area
Work is also progressing on an elevated concrete floor along one side of the building. Crews can be seen finishing the recently poured surface, with dark track supports already projecting above it.
The suspended vehicles will travel through this area before turning left into the larger room. A service floor sits beneath it, with the newly installed banked track visible farther below.
The loading area remains recognizable by its two tall gray steel structures and rows of curved brown framing. Here, vertical lift mechanisms will raise the vehicles toward the curved ceilings before they move forward into the attraction.
Bioreconstruct also shared a marked-up overview illustrating how the ride’s different interior sections may connect.

The path to the unloading area is marked (1), while (2) identifies an elevated section where vehicles will swoop through a scene above unloading. Vehicles will rise from ground level at (3) toward the curved ceilings at (4), then move forward through the upper sections marked (5) and (6) before turning left. At (7), bioreconstruct identifies a single route that turns left into the large main room, where newly installed track is visible at (8).
These latest aerials build upon our previous update when we first noticed crews preparing track to leave the coaster material staging area. The new exterior panels and additional track offer a more developed look at the structure as work continues.

Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster Construction

Monstropolis, which replaces Muppets Courtyard, will open in phases. Most of the land will open next year, but Disney hasn’t announced an opening timeframe for the coaster, which will be Disney’s first vertical lift and first suspended coaster. Aerial photos from last month provide a clearer picture of how trains will travel through the door coaster currently under construction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Parts of Monstropolis will open to guests in 2027 while construction continues on the door coaster. Follow our Monstropolis construction updates for more coverage of the upcoming land.
