The latest aerial photos from bioreconstruct reveal progress across the former Muppets Courtyard, including concrete work, decorative additions, and extensive scaffolding around the buildings being transformed for the upcoming Monsters, Inc. land.

Fountain Concrete Poured

Concrete has been poured within the circular footprint of the new fountain near the future entrance to Monstropolis.

More reinforcing steel extends around the fountain’s perimeter, where orange caps mark the exposed ends. The central structure and outer edges remain unfinished, but the pour gives the fountain a more defined footprint within the courtyard.

A separate circular form remains on the existing pavement closer to the entrance columns. Wooden braces surround this smaller ring, with a worker pictured inside it.

The four concrete gateway columns remain standing near the future entrance, with decorative additions now visible around their bases.

Light-colored panels feature a repeating pattern that resembles something like monster scales. The textured sections sit within framed rectangular faces on the wider square pedestals, adding some early Monsters, Inc. character to the otherwise plain columns.

Concrete Work Near Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza

Farther into the land, crews are preparing additional concrete work near Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza.

Long wooden forms outline several connected sections within the excavated courtyard. Reinforcing steel runs along portions of the forms, while smaller square forms are positioned at intervals around the work area.

Some concrete is already visible at the bottoms of these sections, with additional formwork still standing above it. Lumber, loose panels, and stacks of materials surround the excavation as workers continue preparing the area.

Future Monstropolis Buildings

Scaffolding covers much of the former PizzeRizzo building, which will become Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza. Multiple levels of work platforms extend across its courtyard-facing exterior, with construction supplies staged below.

The Glob Theater brick clock tower remains visible beside the entrance plaza. Along the adjoining façade, exposed metal brackets project above the ground-level openings.

Across the courtyard, scaffolding also surrounds the former Gonzo’s Royal Flush restrooms. Similar coverage can be seen further into the land around the façade of the former Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano, which is being transformed into Harryhausen’s.

Wider aerials show how extensively the former courtyard has changed. Much of the ground between the buildings is now bare dirt, with construction vehicles moving among excavations, concrete forms, and scaffolded façades.

For more on the restaurants, Disney recently shared a preview of the food coming to Harryhausen’s and Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza. A recent permit also indicates that set elements are coming to Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza.

Parts of Monstropolis will open in 2027 while work continues on the door coaster. Follow our Monstropolis construction updates for more coverage.

Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster Construction

Monstropolis, which replaces Muppets Courtyard, will open in phases. Most of the land will open next year, but Disney hasn’t announced an opening timeframe for the coaster, which will be Disney’s first vertical lift and first suspended coaster. Aerial photos from last month provide a clearer picture of how trains will travel through the door coaster currently under construction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
