What I Wish I’d Known Before Going to Magic Kingdom in November

What I Wish I’d Known Before Going to Magic Kingdom in November

Think you know everything about planning a Disney World vacation? THINK AGAIN. Things around here change constantly, and even if you took a vacation last November, things are ENTIRELY different.

And the Magic Kingdom isn’t a special exception — it’s actually changed SO MUCH over the past year. So, what do you need to know about going to Magic Kingdom in November? Let’s talk it out.

Happily Ever After Won’t Show On 12 Nights

November sees the start of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, a special-ticketed event where guests can experience holiday magic in the Magic Kingdom filled with Christmas parades and fireworks, exclusive character meet-and-greets, festive food offerings, and lower wait times!

Because the park closes early for the party, the Happily Ever After fireworks spectacular will not show on party nights. With 12 party nights in November, this means that Happily Ever After will not show on 12 nights.

Plan Around The Holidays If You Can

November is when the crowds REALLY start to pick up in Disney World, especially around the holidays, so if you can plan your vacation around them, DO IT! The three-day Veterans Day weekend and the week of Thanksgiving can be very crowded. Try to plan your trip on the weekdays for the least number of crowds — this will give you the best chance to get on as many rides as possible, snag harder-to-get reservations, and find a table at the quick-service restaurants!

The Christmas Parade Won’t Show During The Day

One of the best entertainment offerings at Magic Kingdom is the parades — they don’t happen anywhere else! However, if you have a day ticket to the Magic Kingdom and were hoping to see the Christmas parade, I’m afraid you’re out of luck.

The Christmas parade only happens during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, while the Festival of Fantasy Parade and the Adventure Friends Cavalcade show during the day. If you were really hoping to experience the Christmas parade, we recommend grabbing a ticket to the party and showing up at least 30 minutes before the parade starts!

Pack A Little Bit Of Everything

The weather in Disney World in November can be quite…unpredictable. One day it could be 80° and sunny, and the next day it could be 50° and cloudy. Because of this, you should pack a little bit of everything — sweatshirts, T-shirts, shorts, pants, ponchos… EVERYTHING! It’s better to be prepared than to have to drop a lot of $$$ on new clothes you may want, but definitely don’t need.

Some Paths Will Be Blocked By Construction

A lot of change is taking place around Magic Kingdom right now with the preparation of two new lands and refurbishing an attraction. Because of this, paths may be unavailable for guests to use. One specific one to note is the bridge from Liberty Square to Frontierland — this bridge is currently behind walls for the construction of Piston Peak. Looks like you’ll just have to take the long way for now!

A Popular Attraction Will Be Closed For Refurbishment

Finally, beginning November 2nd, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will close for refurbishment. The attraction is currently scheduled to open back up at the end of December. So, if you’re headed to Frontierland and hoping to head down the bayou in November, the only day you’ll be able to do so is November 1st. But don’t worry, there are still PLENTY of other amazing attractions in Magic Kingdom to ride, including the newly refurbished Big Thunder Mountain Railroad!
