Nicolas Cage says he probably won’t work with Amazon again after refusing to sign a waiver allowing artificial intelligence to be used on Spider-Noir.
Nicolas Cage Discusses Spider-Noir AI Waiver

According to Variety, Cage discussed the dispute during his New York Comic Con panel on Saturday, October 10. He contrasted Amazon’s support for AI with his opposition to its use in acting.
“I’m probably not going to be working with that studio again, but that’s okay.”
Cage did not detail the waiver’s provisions. His comments also did not establish that his refusal led to the show’s cancellation.
Amazon canceled Spider-Noir after one season in September, despite positive reviews and 11 Emmy nominations. Just days later, the Nicolas Cage-led series won five Emmy Awards, including honors for cinematography, visual effects, and stunt coordination.
The Marvel adaptation stars Cage as Ben Reilly, a private investigator in Depression-era New York. It premiered on Prime Video in May, with both color and black-and-white viewing options. Cage previously voiced Spider-Man Noir in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
During the Comic Con panel, Cage also expressed interest in working with younger filmmakers and said his next project would be a season of HBO’s True Detective. HBO had not responded to Variety’s request for comment at publication.
