Pull testing has reached the towering spike of Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift at Universal Studios Florida, with new photos from bioreconstruct showing how crews pull the test vehicle up the track and inspect its traction.
Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift Pull Testing

The black test vehicle is positioned near the top of the coaster spike, the attraction’s signature towering element. Close-up views show the exposed carriage beneath the seats, with multiple wheel assemblies surrounding the gray track rails. Metal clearance-testing frames extend around the vehicle.

The car has been used for pull-through testing since September. This process moves the vehicle slowly along the track using pulling equipment, allowing crews to evaluate clearances along the route. The surrounding frames represent the space riders could reach beyond the seats.
The latest photos document the winch-and-pulley setup used to move the car up The Spike. According to bioreconstruct, a single wire rope was used throughout the process.

One wide view shows the vehicle paused on the nearly vertical track, with the wire rope extending diagonally toward a pulley higher on the spike. The gray track rises well above the car, supported by large blue columns.
A closer photo shows a pulley attached to a track rail with a yellow fabric strap. The wire rope passes through the pulley, changing direction between the diagonal stretch and the section extending upward.

Crews work to pull the vehicle upward in stages. Once the car reaches a stopping point, it is secured with wide fabric ropes. Red securing ropes are visible in the close-up views of the coaster track.
With the car secured, crews give the wire rope slack. A boom lift is then used to move the pulley to the next stopping position farther along the track.

The wire rope pulls the car up to that position, and the sequence repeats. The photos show a green lift basket beside the track, providing workers access to the pulley and the vehicle’s carriage. This gradual process allows the team to reposition the pulling equipment as the car advances up The Spike.
While the vehicle was paused on The Spike, a member of the testing team carefully inspected each carriage wheel’s grip on the track.

One close-up captures the worker’s hands on a wheel assembly beside the rail. The angle provides a detailed look at the wheels, mounting brackets, wiring, and other components beneath the passenger seats.

Other views show the car on the curved approach to the spike and farther up its nearly vertical section. The exposed undercarriage and clearance frames remain visible as the vehicle changes position along the track.

Incoming heavy rains in the Orlando area brought an extended pause to the pull-through testing right as the car reached a midpoint on the vertical spike.
The latest photos follow our early October update on continued pull testing and additional theming, when the car was positioned at the mid-course brake run.
