Hotel Coffee Crawl: I Paid $13 For A Disney Coffee, But It Was Absolutely Worth

Hotel Coffee Crawl: I Paid For A Disney Coffee, But It Was Absolutely Worth

Can I find the BEST Disney World coffee?! And is the spot with the best coffee also the best place to work from home? We’re about to find out! Welcome to episode THREE of trying to find out which Disney World hotel is the best for people who want to add a little Disney magic to their workday!

Let’s go to the BoardWalk!

As a writer for DFB, I have the privilege of working from home. And living close to Disney World gives me another privilege on top of that — working from the resorts! I’m basing this rating on the coffee I get, the space available (i.e., the tables, chairs, and outlets), and the atmosphere, and today, we’re at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn!

One of Disney World’s Deluxe resorts, Disney’s BoardWalk Inn includes a nostalgic seaside atmosphere mixed with classic Atlantic City and Coney Island vacation culture through artwork, dining, activities, and entertainment. Guests staying here will also have easy access to EPCOT and Hollywood Studios as they’re both just a short boat ride or walk away.

The dining locations here include The Cake Bake Shop Restaurant by Gwendolyn Rogers, The Cake Bake Bakery, Flying Fish, AbracadaBar, the BoardWalk Deli, Hurly-Burly, Trattoria al Forno, Belle Vue Lounge, Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs, BoardWalk Ice Cream, Carousel Coffee, the BoardWalk Snack Stand, Joe’s Marvelous Margaritas, and the BoardWalk Pizza Window. YES – there are really that many options, and even more are on their way!

Blue Ribbon Corn Dogs

Coffee – 7/10

You probably thought I was headed to Carousel Coffee, didn’t you? Well, there’s another place that serves coffee on the BoardWalk, and that’s the Cake Bake Shop Bakery! Since it’s pumpkin season, obviously I had to grab their specialty coffee, which is a White Chocolate Pumpkin Spice Latte. This is made with three shots of espresso, your choice of milk (there is an upcharge if it’s a milk substitute), pumpkin syrup, cinnamon, white chocolate syrup, and topped with whipped cream, sprinkles, and glitter (of course!).

White Chocolate Pumpkin Spice Latte

I LOVED this coffee! Not only was it filling, but the pumpkin flavor was also really strong, which I appreciated — not a lot of pumpkin coffees have a strong flavor. It was so filling that I didn’t even finish it (but that’s on me because I did get a large).

And, of course, the Cake Bake Shop is going to be one of the most expensive coffees you can find on property, and it definitely hurt my wallet a bit. After tax, my total came out to $12.78. OUCH! I could have gotten TWO of the coffees I got at the Polynesian Resort, and it STILL wouldn’t have been as expensive as the Cake Bake Shop’s! Worth it, though? Definitely.

This coffee was filling!

Atmosphere – 10/10

Am I biased here because this is the resort I grew up at coming with my family? Probably, but that doesn’t change the fact that the atmosphere is one of the best on Disney World property! The music is TOP NOTCH, and the artwork and decor, both inside and out, are just amazing. I started my day outside along the water, and the music combined with the sounds of the FriendShip Boats and the views were just unmatched.

Look at my view!

Although I didn’t want to move the party inside, I had to because my laptop was about to die (and ya girl’s gotta work!), so I spent the rest of my day in Belle Vue Lounge. These seats weren’t like your typical wooden chairs — it’s a Deluxe resort, after all! — they were SO comfortable! The lounge doesn’t open until 4 PM, so it was pretty quiet over there until then.

Other guests had the same idea as me and worked from that space until the lounge opened! You can still hear the BoardWalk music while sitting in these comfortable chairs in the air conditioning — what’s better than that?!

Belle Vue Lounge

Space – 7/10

Now, when it comes to tables, chairs, and outlet availability, the BoardWalk isn’t the best resort for this, but it also isn’t the worst. Outside, there is PLENTY of seating, but the only problem is the outlets. And inside, there are a few tables and chairs — mostly inside Belle Vue Lounge — but few outlets. Luckily, one of the tables that had an outlet beside it was available, so that’s where I stayed for most of my day, but I really only counted three outlets next to tables (two in Belle Vue Lounge and one right outside the lounge).

Belle Vue Lounge

Overall – 8/10

Based on the coffee I had, the atmosphere, and the space, the BoardWalk Inn gets an 8/10 when it comes to working from home at the Disney resorts. The coffee was one of the best I’ve had so far in this series, and the atmosphere and space availability were very good — the only downside was the number of accessible outlets. This means we have a NEW leader…

Here are my current rankings:

  1. BoardWalk Inn — 8/10
  2. Coronado Springs Resort – 7/10
  3. Polynesian Village Resort – 5/10

Let’s go to the BoardWalk!

We are headed to ALL of the Disney World resorts for this series, so stay tuned to the Disney Food Blog for more because they’re coming real soon!
