Final Ticket Booths Demolished in Disneyland Esplanade as Construction Continues

Construction walls have taken over both sides of the Disneyland Esplanade as work on Porto’s Bakery progresses, and the last two ticket booths on the eastern end have been demolished.

Our reporter took a ride on the Disneyland Monorail to capture aerial shots of the ongoing construction and demolition in the Disneyland Esplanade. Behind the multicolored construction walls surrounding the construction of Porto’s Bakery, the multiple dirt piles that have been visible for months are officially gone and appear to have been smoothed out over the site.

Based on the current state of the site, we may see the restaurant’s structure taking shape soon.

The area enclosed by the green scrim next to it contains a pile of rubble from a broken-up area of the concrete.

We can also see a dirt area with a short brick-colored frame around it, perhaps the beginnings of a planter. A narrow pedestrian walkway runs between the colored Porto’s construction walls and the green scrim walls.

On the eastern side of the Esplanade by the bus loop, the final two ticket booths have been demolished, joining the four that have already fallen. The ticket booths were removed to accommodate construction of a new pedestrian bridge over Harbor Boulevard as part of the DisneylandForward project.

The two construction sites have been merged into a single site with a dividing wall, and ground concrete has been laid in the foreground area. According to Scott Gustin, the security screening area on this side of the Esplanade will shift to this location after construction is complete. The triangular frames we can see are most likely the start of this new security area.

These frames are the only part of the eastside construction visible to guests from the ground.

Here’s another view of the future security screening site for guests entering from the bus loop or eastern pedestrian entrance.

The pathway to the Esplanade from the existing security screening area has been rerouted around the larger construction site.

The DisneylandForward expansion project prepares for an influx of visitors as Disney adds several attractions and experiences to Disneyland Resort. Two new rides are coming to Avengers Campus, a Coco ride will be added to Pixar Pier, Tomorrowland is being reimagined, and an Avatar land is still in the works.

In August, Disney officially broke ground on the parking structure, transportation hub, and the pedestrian bridge that are part of the DisneylandForward expansion project.

The pedestrian bridge will connect the esplanade to the new parking structure at the current site of the Manchester Cast Member parking lot. There will be approximately 6,000 parking spaces, 302 EV charging spaces, a dedicated area for shuttles and ridesharing, security, and dedicated access for traffic off Disney Way.

Disney updated the concept art last month to include a roof over the pedestrian bridge, though the final design may continue to be changed.
