A revised permit from Disneyland Resort reveals they have reduced the planned size of their new parking garage.

Disneyland Shrinks New Parking Garage

Disneyland submitted revised building permits to the City of Anaheim that now list the parking structure as seven floors instead of eight. Square footage has decreased about 4% from 3.25 million to 3.1 million.

However, the plans include more electric vehicle charging spaces than before. There were previously 302 planned but now there will be 316.

The permits also list 18 shade canopies covering almost 14,000 square feet and 129 light poles on the roof, neither of which were announced previously.

Disney has said the garage would have over 6,000 parking spaces, but the updated filing does not give any indication that this has changed.

The parking structure is part of a new transportation hub that will also include a dedicated area for shuttles and ridesharing, security, and access for traffic off Disney Way. A pedestrian bridge over Harbor Blvd will connect the hub to the rest of the resort.

Groundbreaking for the parking structure took place this August at the former site of an employee parking lot. Check out our construction update from a few weeks ago.

The new transportation hub will help support the addition of several new attractions at Disneyland Resort, including a Coco ride, two Avengers Campus rides, and an Avatar land. Tomorrowland will also be reimagined.
