We tried the new Maple-Bacon Churro Fries that can be found at Avalunch in Disney’s Blizzard Beach.

We would describe these as churros with a kick. The maple bacon jam is the star of this dish and provides a slight kick of spice. Although the maple flavor profile is present in the jam and in the sugar, it is subdued and doesn’t overwhelm the flavor of the churros.

On top of the churros are small pieces of bacon in the jam that add a slight salty flavor that helps balance the sweetness. The wafer topping adds visual and textural interest, but it doesn’t really contribute to the flavor of the dish. The churros themselves were a bit on the chewy side.

These churros would be a great portable snack for a day at the water park. The small churros are served in a paper boat, and they’re a light snack suitable for sharing. However, if you are hungry for something more substantial, order one all for yourself.

We also found the juxtaposition of eating this maple-bacon fall treat while wearing a bathing suit quite interesting, but it makes sense at Disney’s Blizzard Beach. This treat also deviates from the standard offering of pizza and hot dogs at Avalunch.

Overall, we found these Maple-Bacon Churro Fries to be a decent treat with a sweet, salty, and spicy combo. Although if you are averse to any kind of spice, this treat might not be for you.

Disney’s Blizzard Beach is currently the only waterpark open at Walt Disney World after Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon closed for refurbishment in early September.
