Dockside Diner sits in Echo Lake, which was drained for refurbishment in August. Scaffolding went up around the fake boat soon after. Over the following weeks, crew members repainted the boat and refreshed its details.

The repaint is most obvious on the red lower portion of the hull, where a waterline was previously visible. It’s now a relatively consistent shade of red.

Across the white sections of the hull are strategic streaks of fake rust. The blue trim was also freshly painted.

Lettering appears to have been touched up. The boat was probably also thoroughly cleaned before repainting. Props like the ropes hanging off the sides may have been replaced.

There is still some construction equipment in the empty lake that will need to be removed before it is refilled.

Gertie the dinosaur, who lives on the other side of Echo Lake, was repainted this week. Fake tree stumps and logs were also repainted and a conduit was laid in the lake. It looks like work is almost done and the lake will be refilled soon.

Dockside Diner remains open through construction.
