Crews have started adding stone details to the main entrance archway of Tropical Americas, a new land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom next year.

Tropical Americas Entrance Archway

In our last update, we noticed markings on the archway apparently designating the shapes of future rocky elements. On Friday, the scaffolding around the archway was covered with scrims to keep crew members shaded as they worked on this theming.

They have added fake stones around the center of the archway, following some of those red markings. The stones are sculpted and will be painted later during the construction process.

There is also some stone work visible under the scrims on the left side of the archway. More may be complete but blocked from view.

There are also scrims on the building behind the archway, where a crew member was working on the roof. This building is expected to be the queue for El Carrusel de los Animalitos.

The archway will be the main entrance to Tropical Americas from Discovery Island. The other entrance, close to the Theater in the Wild, features stone pillars with mossy theming. The archway is also expected to get plant elements, based on the concept art (below).

Former Restaurantosaurus

The former Restaurantosaurus restaurant is being transformed into a hacienda. As we reported with aerial photos by bioreconstruct, some exterior walls on one side of the restaurant were painted a warm yellow. Roofing remains to be completed.

The steel frame on the right will be an entrance structure. Disney has not yet announced the name of the reimagined restaurant.
