Crews are laying brick at the Monstropolis entrance and have installed more track for the door coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Aerial photographer bioreconstruct captured these images from the sky above the park.
Monstropolis Construction

The land replaces Muppets Courtyard in the Grand Avenue section of the park. Brickwork has appeared at the entrance, leading up to a circle in the ground. That circle will feature a large “M” medallion, according to concept art.

More bricks are stacked nearby, awaiting installation. Past the entrance is the land’s future fountain, where concrete was poured earlier this month. That concrete foundation has settled and now wood forms surround it, creating walls.

Crews recently installed a metal pole in the center. This fountain is approximately where the Miss Piggy Lady Liberty fountain used to be.

At the top of the above photo is the former MuppetVision 3D theater. It will become The Glob theater, hosting Welcome to Monstropolis! With Sulley & Mike. In front of the building is rebar on the ground for future pavement. Concrete forms at the right outline a future garden.

Outside the former PizzeRizzo is a series of concrete walls in an L shape. This is near where Stage 1 Company Store used to be. The store was demolished but the address was recently used on a permit for a playground.

PizzeRizzo, meanwhile, will become Archie’s Scare Pig Pizza. The section of the overhang where the PizzeRizzo billboard once was has been re-done and painted green. The rest of the overhang remains blue.

Outside the park, the Monsters, Inc. door roller coaster is under construction in the middle of an employee parking lot. Crews started enclosing the building a few weeks ago.

New wall paneling is across the top of a short section of the building, on the left in the above picture. The walls along the top half of the building are white and the walls below are blue. The right side of the building in this picture doesn’t have wall paneling yet but crews have installed more steel for the exterior.

On the other side of the building’s construction site, more black coaster track supports have appeared.

There are two curved pieces of track nearly hidden by the supports. Extensions to these track sections have been added since our last update.

In this area, theming models let crew members know exactly how different elements within the land should be painted, sculpted, etc. Near the center of this photo is a gray X on a white wall, representing the future chopsticks entrance to Harryhausen’s, which replaces Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano.

The bulk of Monstropolis is scheduled to open in 2027. The coaster will open later.
