Meet Quartz! Rare Albino Wallaby Joey Arrives at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

There’s an adorable new addition at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and she’s quite a rare sight! Meet Quartz, a young albino wallaby who recently joined the Australian animal habitat at Jumping Junction, located at Conservation Station.

@animalsatdisney on Instagram introduced the little joey, sharing, “Born with albinism, Quartz’s rare appearance makes her one of a kind.”

Quartz can now be spotted at Jumping Junction, where her bright white fur and pink eyes make her easy to recognize among the other kangaroos and wallabies!

What Makes Quartz So Rare?

Albinism is an inherited genetic condition that affects the production of melanin, the pigment responsible for coloring an animal’s fur, skin, and eyes. Animals with albinism have little to no melanin, resulting in unusually light coloring. In Quartz’s case, she has an all-white coat and pink eyes. Albinism can also affect eyesight and increase sensitivity to sunlight, which means animals with the condition may require additional care.

Disney shared additional details about Quartz’s care:

“Albinism is a genetic condition that results in little to no melanin, the pigment that gives animals their color. Albinism is recessive, meaning an animal must inherit the genetic mutation from both parents. With dedicated animal care and veterinary teams, Quartz’s unique needs are closely monitored and supported. And with that dedicated care, Quartz continues to be a happy, healthy joey!”

Wallaby joeys arrive extremely small and underdeveloped. After birth, they crawl into their mother’s pouch, where they continue growing while nursing. As they get older, they begin poking their heads out, exploring their surroundings, and eventually venturing outside the pouch for longer periods.

Where to See Quartz at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

You can now visit Quartz at Jumping Junction, the Australian animal habitat that opened in May 2026 alongside Bluey’s Wild World at Conservation Station.

To visit, board the Wildlife Express Train near Harambe Market in the Africa section of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Once you arrive at Conservation Station, you can explore Jumping Junction without joining the separate queue for Bluey’s Wild World.
