Aerial photographer bioreconstruct has shared more photos of Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge under construction at Walt Disney World, including the resort’s giant otters and birds in The Wetlands pool area.
Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge Construction

As we saw in bioreconstruct’s last update, the giant otter sculptures have been completely installed. These otters, named Addy and Bonnie, feature small slides. Around them are giant blades of grass and cattails.

On the other side of the lazy river are blue heron sculptures. The animals call back to the line “the heron and the otter are my friends” from Pocahontas‘ “Colors of the Wind.” One heron has its wings spread wide and seems to have some kind of play structure on its back.
Another heron is on a nest at the end of a bridge crossing over the river. A tree structure at the other end of the bridge is more complete, with round green elements atop the trunk.

The third heron has been installed in its permanent location next to the tree. There are also more giant blades of grass in the area.

A large water slide remains in pieces awaiting installation at the pool. But palm trees have been planted around the pool, in squares within the decking.

Compare the current state of The Wetlands with the Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge model, now on display at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

In another curve of the hotel is the quieter Cypress Point pool and the boat transportation dock. There haven’t been significant changes to either the pool or dock, but the surrounding buildings are further along. More exterior wall paneling has been installed.

Lakeshore Lodge is scheduled to open on July 1, 2027. Bookings opened earlier this month.
