Port Orleans Riverside Resort is in the midst of updating ALL of its resort rooms. The Magnolia Bend rooms, including the Royal Rooms, have all been updated and we were lucky enough to stay in one of them recently. The Magnolia Bend area of the resort is meant to resemble the “stately homes and mansions” of the Louisiana and Mississippi bayou. All of the Magnolia Bend rooms sleep 4 with accessible room options and elevators. Magnolia Bend is also slightly closer to the neighboring Port Orleans French Quarter. This is very important when making an obligatory beignet run!

The biggest updates to the room include new flooring, a modern bathroom, and Princess & the Frog theming. There are fun portraits of Tiana’s family and a wedding photo of Tiana and Naveen found throughout the room.

If you’re hoping to stay in a room that sleeps 5 or is located in the Alligator Bayou section of the resort, you’ll need to wait a little longer for those room updates. Alligator Bayou just got started on its room renovations, working from the back of the resort towards the front.

Port Orleans Riverside is a wonderful resort for anyone looking for a peaceful respite from the busy theme parks. The Sassagoula River winding through the resort, plus the overabundance of oak and magnolia trees help to make Port Orleans one of the most picturesque and cozy resorts at Disney World. The resort also offers unique food offerings like gumbo and jambalaya and live entertainment from Yeeha Bob at the River Roost.
