Nyala Calves Arrive at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Disney shared photos of the new calves on Instagram today, along with the following caption:
Three times the cuteness! 🦌 Meet the three newest nyala calves at Disney’s #AnimalKingdom Lodge. 💙💙💗 For now, they’re spending time backstage bonding with their moms, but guests may be able to spot them on the savanna soon!

The nyala is a spiral-horned antelope native to Southern Africa. Nyala calves are born with white stripes and spots to help them blend into the tall grass. As male calves get older, they will develop darker coats and the iconic spiral horns. Adult female nyala largely retain their brown coats with white spots and stripes.

Earlier this year, a male nyala calf named Parker was born at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Most recently, Quartz, a rare albino wallaby joey, arrived at Jumping Junction.
