Oh, Disney Cruise Line, you thought you could pull a fast one on us? Well, we are watching! Always watching…
Disney Cruise Line
We recently sailed on the Disney Wish, where we learned tons of new information about the Disney Believe, Disney’s newest cruise ship launching in December 2027. We love grabbing a Mickey Ice Cream Bar while we book our next trip on the seas, but today we noticed something has changed online, and we think it might really throw some people off!
The Disney Cruise Line’s website just got an update that we think might throw some people off. During our recent scrolling, we noticed that prices on upcoming cruises were looking surprisingly low. That’s when we realized they have updated the website to show prices PER PERSON.

In the past, the prices were shown as the upfront total cost for each cabin based on 2 people in the cabin. With this change, prices initially look significantly cheaper before you dig deeper into the site and see the total cost. They have also updated the website to show savings per person, rather than a total cabin saving.

This change means that it will take a little more effort to find the actual total cost of your cruise rather than the smaller price you might be seeing. Now, you will need to choose the dates you want to sail, the cruise ship you want to sail on, and select your preferred room before you can see the total upfront cost of your room.

This means many people online might think they’re finding a deal until they’re close to purchasing their vacation! We can see this leading to quite a bit of confusion and disappointment for people scrolling on the site. As Disney continues to expand its cruise fleet, it can be assumed that more people will be on the cruise line website looking for good deals and prices. This new update is a way to showcase the lowest number possible to cruisers, even though it doesn’t accurately reflect the overall price.
A stateroom on the Disney Fantasy
Even if you are a solo traveler, you will be charged the same total package price as two guests staying in the same stateroom. So that per-person price won’t be reflected even if you’re sailing alone. For example, at the time of writing, one cruise shows the starting price per person as $686, but once you click into the cruise, that price will be $1,245.00 for one cruiser in one stateroom.

That being said, if you’re traveling with a large party that is splitting the price, this per-person number could be helpful. We have some complex feelings about this change, but it doesn’t actually impact the price of your vacation. You just might be more surprised by the total at checkout.
Disney Adventure
Disney Cruise Line is currently developing two new ships, including the Disney Believe and the Disney Imagination. The Disney Imagination will be owned and operated by the Oriental Land Company, which owns and operates Tokyo Disney. This will be the company’s first Japanese cruise ship, and we recently got a few details on what guests can expect. Both the Believe and the Imagination will be the last Wish Class ships before a new class launches at a later date.

We’re eager to see if this change does impact cruisers as they’re going to book, especially with so many ships launching in the future. You can learn all about the new Disney Believe news in this video below!
