The South Florida Water Management District has approved Walt Disney World’s plans to expand their North Service Area Marina.
North Service Area Marina Expansion

The marina is north of Magic Kingdom, off Bay Lake, and houses Disney’s watercraft when they aren’t in use. It’s where the fourth ferryboat is under construction. Disney filed for the expansion in August.

The plans includes 20-foot floating dock extensions, a new floating dock with three 40-foot fingers, replacement of nine pilings, relocation of four pilings, addition of eight pilings, and dredging along the edge of the marina to a depth of 86.5 feet.
The total dock area will grow from 3,400 square feet to about 4,800 square feet.

The project won’t affect water quality or attenuation. The volume displaced by new pilings will be offset by existing surplus in Bay Lake.
Construction won’t be visible to guests and probably won’t affect boat service.
Crews are also working on expanding the Magic Kingdom ferryboat dock.
