New aerial photos reveal construction along the future route to the Monsters, Inc. door coaster, plus ongoing fountain and courtyard work in Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Monstropolis Construction Update

The latest images from bioreconstruct offer overhead views of the former Muppets Courtyard, where crews are transforming existing buildings and rebuilding the spaces between them.
A straight-down photo focuses on construction near the exit of The Glob Theater and Harryhausen’s Restaurant. Guests will likely pass through this area to reach the Monsters, Inc. factory and its suspended door coaster.
Much of the ground remains exposed dirt, with excavated trenches, concrete walls, and construction materials occupying the space between the buildings. The low walls outline several angular sections, while equipment and work vehicles are positioned around the perimeter.
Scaffolding continues along the neighboring façades. From this angle, the photo illustrates how the existing courtyard will connect with the coaster expansion beyond it.

Two wider aerial views show additional work throughout the land, including the octagonal fountain near The Glob Theater. Its concrete basin is visible within surrounding wooden forms, with a vertical element rising from the center.
We previously reported on entrance brickwork and construction around the fountain. These new views show the fountain amid the broader courtyard work, with substantial portions of the surrounding ground still unpaved.
Closer to the land’s entrance, a circular inset is visible within a section of pavement between the entrance columns. Farther inside, long concrete walls form angular outlines beside the future guest route. Exposed reinforcing grids cover sections awaiting additional concrete work.
Crews are also working around an excavation beside the theater’s entrance. Construction vehicles, stacks of materials, and scaffolding remain spread throughout the courtyard.
Although scaffolding still surrounds several buildings in these aerials, our latest ground-level update documented more horns, spikes, and tooth-like trim becoming visible as scaffolding comes down.
Monstropolis Construction

Monstropolis, which replaces Muppets Courtyard, will open in phases. Disney hasn’t announced an opening timeframe for the upcoming door coaster, which will be Disney’s first vertical lift and first suspended coaster.
Aerial photos from last month provide a clearer picture of how trains will travel through the door coaster currently under construction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Monstropolis will open in phases beginning in 2027. Disney has not announced an opening timeframe for the door coaster, which will debut later. Check out all our Monstropolis construction updates.
