The ongoing demolition of The Lost Continent at Universal Islands of Adventure appears to have reached the waterfront exterior of Mythos Restaurant, despite the fact that the dining venue remains open to guests until next year.
Mythos Restaurant Exterior Demolition

Instagram user @KPJPflorida shared a new video with WDWNT showing the backside of Mythos Restaurant from across the park’s lagoon—or, more specifically, the beginning of the end of the Mythos rock façade structure.
Mythos is an award-winning restaurant offering modern cuisine in a “mythical setting” featuring a mix of Mediterranean, Asian, and American fare. It is also one of the last standing fixtures of The Lost Continent while months-long demolition efforts have cleared much of the surrounding land.

The recent Instagram clip shows what appears to be a section of the restaurant’s distinctive pink rockwork partially dismantled near the water’s edge. An opening toward the left side of the structure exposes dark framework and a ladder inside, suggesting crews have begun removing portions of the themed exterior.

The surrounding artificial rock formations, carved figures, and cavernous openings remain largely intact. Much of the restaurant’s recognizable exterior architecture is still standing, including its rounded rooftop structures and towering rock formations.
A yellow floating barrier extends along the shoreline in front of the restaurant, separating the waterfront construction area from the lagoon.
The footage does not establish whether the work involves the removal of permanent structural elements or only decorative rockwork. However, it represents another visible change to the restaurant’s surroundings as Universal prepares The Lost Continent for redevelopment.

Despite the activity around the building, Mythos Restaurant remains open to guests. Universal confirmed in May that the award-winning dining location will close permanently sometime in 2027. An exact closing date has not been announced.
The Lost Continent Demolition Continues

The latest activity follows significant demolition throughout The Lost Continent. Earlier this year, Universal erected construction walls outside Mythos Restaurant, restricting portions of the surrounding walkways while keeping the restaurant accessible to guests.
Elsewhere in the land, the former The Eighth Voyage of Sindbad stunt show theater and Poseidon’s Fury attraction have been completely demolished, leaving large areas of cleared land for future development.
Most recently, aerial photography revealed construction of a new service road and an extended retaining wall near the former Poseidon’s Fury site. A floating debris barrier was also spotted behind Mythos Restaurant in anticipation of additional demolition work.
Universal has confirmed that The Lost Continent will make way for a new themed land, but has not revealed what will replace the area.
