Jungle Cruise: Wildlife Expeditions Closure

Jungle Cruise: Wildlife Expeditions will temporarily close for nearly three months at Tokyo Disneyland beginning in January 2027.

The Adventureland attraction is scheduled for an extended closure early next year. Tokyo Disney Resort’s official website lists the closure as January 6 through March 31, 2027, making April 1 its expected reopening date, subject to schedule changes.

The resort has not detailed the work planned during the closure. The attraction’s listing identifies the downtime as temporary and does not announce any changes to its storyline or ride experience.

Jungle Cruise opened at Tokyo Disneyland on April 15, 1983. The attraction became Jungle Cruise: Wildlife Expeditions on September 8, 2014, following an overhaul that introduced new lighting, special effects, and original music.

That project also introduced a distinct nighttime experience. The approximately 10-minute boat ride takes guests past jungle wildlife with a skipper providing narration, while its temple sequence features encounters with animal spirit guardians.

Potential Adventureland Redevelopment

Jungle Cruise: Wildlife Expeditions will temporarily close for nearly three months at Tokyo Disneyland beginning in January 2027.

The upcoming closure follows earlier speculation about the long-term future of Tokyo Disneyland’s Adventureland.

On April 28, 2025, Tokyo Disney Resort operator Oriental Land Company released its 2035 Long-Term Management Strategy, which included concept artwork illustrating potential changes to the resort.

As we previously reported, the Adventureland rendering appeared to omit Jungle Cruise, the Swiss Family Treehouse, the Western River Railroad station, and the Enchanted Tiki Room. Elements of the artwork also suggested possible experiences inspired by Up and The Incredibles, although those interpretations remain speculative.

The January–March 2027 closure listing does not connect the scheduled downtime to that potential redevelopment. Guests planning an early 2027 visit should currently expect Jungle Cruise: Wildlife Expeditions to be unavailable throughout the listed period.

Elsewhere at Tokyo Disneyland, Leslie Iwerks and her crew recently wrapped filming for season two of The Imagineering Story. The documentary series returns in early 2028, following Imagineers as they develop new projects and offering a look behind the scenes of Disney’s theme parks.
