Water cooler talk at your job might be entertaining, but you’re going to bust a seam when you see the Slack conversations of the DFB team!
With a team spread all across the United States, we have a lot of the weirdest, silliest, most nonsensical team conversations digitally. Today, I’ve rounded up a highlight reel of our favorites to share with you!
To start out, I’m sharing some absolutely terrifying nonsense that was posted in our random channel on Slack a few months ago. One of my coworkers purchased this monstrous monkey suit and proceeded to not only harass her husband, but us by proxy. In case you’re wondering, YES, it came with the giant comb…as well as a pocket to put it in. If you’re freaked out, you’re not the only one! Some additional responses to this thread included “WARN US BEFORE THE JUMPSCARE” and “new sleep paralysis demon just dropped.”
Of course, one of our team’s more famous ridiculous conversations is the debate about whether or not apples belong in the fridge. AJ is pretty gung-ho, but DFB Breea leads the charge on the other side of the argument.
Seriously, AJ, THINK OF THE TEETH. I appreciate a cold, crisp apple as much as the next gal, but I find them plenty chilled when they’re outside the fridge. I can’t even imagine the frigid rubbish I’d be subjected to if I refrigerated it ahead of time. Me and my Sensodyne could NEVER.
But that’s not the only wild food-related opinion we’ve chatted about. One day, AJ reached out to our team to ask a real brain-bender: WHY do unfrosted Pop-Tarts exist? We all agree they’re a menace to society…right?! This debate tapped in employees from our writing team, social media team, our editing team, and our YouTube team.
I stand firmly in the camp of “we should just go ahead and ice the entire Pop-Tart because the corners SUCK,” but clearly some of my coworkers disagree. Seriously, a Pop-Tart crust addiction? Is that what this world has come to?!
And once again, Breea and AJ are arguing like divorced parents on either side of little baby Pop-Tart. This is a debate that has continued to plague our team for two years, and I’m not sure that there will ever be true resolution.
As you can see, we get up to quite a bit of malarkey here when we’re on the clock. It’s a fun time, even if we’re sometimes standing in opposite corners shouting at each other. We’ve got dozens of people with a variety of jobs here, from those who write the guidebooks and blog posts you know and love to those who edit our YouTube videos to those who do the behind-the-scenes jobs like accounting and marketing and tech (gotta keep that website running!). All together, we make one wild and ridiculous team full of people who love Disney and love food and love our readers!
