Ride System Installed for ‘Up’ Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings at Disney Adventure World

The upcoming Up-themed Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings attraction at Disney Adventure World has reached a major construction milestone, with its central ride system now installed at Disneyland Paris.

Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings Ride System Installed

New photos shared by DLP Works on Instagram on October 28 reveal that the central mechanical structure of Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings has been installed between the attraction’s two entrance towers.

The equipment, manufactured by Italian ride company Zamperla, includes the large steel support column and rotating assembly that will power the flying chair carousel.

The upper portion features a ribbed, cylindrical rotating crown, with a steel framework and angled tilting arm extending above it. These components will eventually support the attraction’s decorative canopy, which will tilt as the ride spins to give guests a greater sensation of flight.

Several mechanical and electrical components are also visible around the structure, including the rotation drive motor, power and control junction boxes, and bundles of cabling. An access ladder and maintenance platform are attached to the central column, allowing technicians to reach the ride’s mechanical systems.

Large tower cranes are visible around the construction site as installation work continues.

This marks a significant development since our previous construction update on October 16, when the attraction’s surrounding buildings and decorations were progressing, but the ride machinery had not yet appeared.

Although the central assembly is now in place, the flying chairs and the completed decorative canopy have not yet been installed.

More Balloon Decorations and Theming Added

Beyond the mechanical installation, the latest photos reveal additional progress on the attraction’s surrounding architecture.

The glass dome atop the left entrance tower has now been filled with colorful balloons, matching the decorations previously installed on the opposite tower.

Both towers feature clusters of balloons extending from golden crown-like ornaments above their glass domes, recalling the thousands of balloons Carl Fredricksen uses to lift his house into the sky in Pixar’s Up.

Additional pink decorative moldings have also been installed around the left tower’s arches and roofline, bringing its exterior closer to matching the completed details on the right tower.

Blue construction walls continue to surround the site, featuring artwork of the future attraction and messages promising guests that a new adventure is on its way.

Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings Opening in 2027

The upcoming Up-themed Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings attraction at Disney Adventure World has reached a major construction milestone, with its central ride system now installed at Disneyland Paris.

Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings will be the first-ever Disney Parks attraction inspired by Pixar’s Up. Located along Adventure Way, opposite Rapunzel’s Tangled Spin, the family-friendly ride will feature 48 chair positions accommodating 64 guests.

The seating arrangement includes 16 double chairs and 32 single chairs, allowing guests to soar around the rotating attraction beneath its tilting canopy.

As Disney previously revealed, the attraction will invite guests to join Russell’s Wilderness Explorers and earn their Aviation badge. Its elaborately themed queue will include four areas inspired by moments from Up, with props including Carl’s childhood aviator helmet and Ellie’s adventure book.

Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings is scheduled to open sometime in 2027. DLP Works suggests an early 2027 opening could be possible based on current construction progress, although Disneyland Paris has not announced a more specific opening window.

The attraction is one of several major additions to Disney Adventure World, formerly Walt Disney Studios Park, which was renamed following the opening of World of Frozen and Adventure Way in March 2026.

Elsewhere in the park, construction continues on the upcoming The Lion King-themed Pride Lands, where a massive show building has been taking shape for a new flume attraction. Meanwhile, the recently opened World of Frozen is preparing for its first Christmas celebration.
