Live action and 2D animation are blended in “Drawing Prada: Animated by Hand,” the Prada Holiday 2026 campaign led by a former Disney animator.
“Drawing Prada: Animated by Hand”
The campaign “draws inspiration from the human core of storytelling at the heart of the holiday season. It invents encompassing fantasies, magical impossibilities created by the anachronistic and romantic technique of hand-drawn illustration, the true protagonist for a series of films.”
Prada Ambassadors Sadie Sink, Maya Hawke, Chen Haoyu, Kelvin Harrison Jr., together with Luther Ford, star alongside hand-drawn animated characters in illustrated wonderlands.
John Pomeroy led the team of artists behind the animated ad. Pomeroy started as a background artist at Walt Disney Animation Studios in 1973. He became a full animator with Winnie the Pooh and Tigger Too (1974). He worked on The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh , The Rescuers, and Pete’s Dragon, all released in 1977.
He left the studio in 1979 with Don Bluth, and worked on the films The Secret of NIMH (1982), An American Tail (1986), The Land Before Time (1988), All Dogs Go to Heaven (1989), and Thumbelina (1994).
Rejoining Disney in the ’90s, he was the supervising animator on John Smith for Pocahontas, and provided animation for Fantasia 2000, The Tigger Movie, Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and Treasure Planet.

Working under Pomeroy were Tom and Tony Bancroft. Their credits include Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, and Mulan (which Tony co-directed).

The creative directors are Miuccia Prada and Raf Simons. Campaign creative direction is by Ferdinando Verderi. Glen Luchford was the photographer and live-action director.
