After a month of closure, this popular Magic Kingdom attraction has reopened, and a full day early!
Train Station
The Walt Disney World Railroad closed on September 28th, and for a month we had to patiently wait for the refurbishment to finish. While the Disney World calendar showed the attraction reopening on October 30th, it ended up opening a day early. So, what changes did we notice?
We went to Magic Kingdom to see if the refurbishment brought any changes, and we wish we could tell you something cool, but we didn’t actually see any changes with the station itself. It looks like maybe the tracks were what they were working on, or possibly the bricks. Other than that, there were no changes that stood out to us.
Magic Kingdom train station!
The Walt Disney World Railroad has been around since Magic Kingdom’s opening day. It operates with historic steam locomotives and takes a round trip around Magic Kingdom, consisting of four locomotives with five passenger cars each. Each train can hold about 365 people.
This attraction is iconic!
It’s a great way to get around Magic Kingdom, especially when your feet are tired, and you just need a break from the hustle and bustle. The train stops at three stations — Main Street, U.S.A., Frontierland, and Fantasyland. You can normally take a full loop around Magic Kingdom, but because of the construction in Frontierland, the railroad is operating in shuttle mode only. So, the train goes from Main Street, U.S.A. to Fantasyland and back again (no Frontierland).
We’re at the station
We’re assuming things should go back to normal once the construction in Frontierland is complete, although Disney hasn’t given us any timeline on when Piston Peak will be finished. Even once Piston Peak is done, Disney hasn’t shared whether the railroad will go into Frontierland while Villains Land is being built. These are all things we’ll have to keep an eye out for.
