Kathleen Kennedy is set to replace Peter Rice as the head of ceremonies and content for the upcoming L.A. Olympics.
Kathleen Kennedy to Head Olympic Ceremonies and Content
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Kathleen Kennedy will replace Peter Rice as head of ceremonies and content after he was brought on by Netflix to replace Bele Barjara, who was designated to oversee scripted and unscripted series, film, live events, and more programming around the world.
Consequently, many wondered how Rice was going to tackle all of the responsibilities that came with the position for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles—but the appointment of Kennedy in his place has provided a clear answer
When asked about filling the role, Kennedy told The Hollywood Reporter:
“The Olympics have been a touchstone in my life. My husband, Frank Marshall, and I have attended virtually every Games since Los Angeles in 1984, and sport remains one of the great unifying experiences we share. Peter Rice has laid a terrific foundation, and I can’t wait to get to work with Ben Winston, our creative director, and the whole LA28 team.”
Kennedy will be helping shape the opening and closing ceremonies for the Olympic Games in four separate events that will be viewed by billions of people across the world.
