Planning a Disneyland vacation but want to spend a few days exploring San Diego, too? There’s a new option that makes it easier to combine both destinations into one vacation package!
Walt Disney Travel Company has introduced San Diego hotel add-ons for Disneyland Resort vacation packages, giving guests the opportunity to enjoy some time at Disneyland before heading south to explore another popular Southern California destination.
Two San Diego hotels are now available as part of these vacation packages:
- SpringHill Suites by Marriott San Diego Downtown/Bayfront
- Residence Inn by Marriott San Diego Downtown/Bayfront
Both properties are located along San Diego’s waterfront, near the San Diego Cruise Port. They’re also within walking distance of several popular attractions, including the USS Midway Museum, Maritime Museum of San Diego, Little Italy, and the Gaslamp Quarter.
Guests staying at either hotel receive complimentary breakfast and have access to Harbor & Sky Rooftop Lounge and Bar, which offers cocktails, light bites, and waterfront views.

Getting From Disneyland to San Diego
There are a couple of ways to make the trip from Anaheim to San Diego, depending on how you’d prefer to travel.
Guests can add a rental car to their vacation package and enjoy the drive south along the Southern California coast. Another option is Amtrak, which provides train service between Anaheim and San Diego. The San Diego train station is located just a short distance from both participating hotels.
And here’s something else worth considering if you’re a Disney Cruise Line fan. Since both hotels are near the San Diego Cruise Port, you could potentially spend a few days at Disneyland, head to San Diego, and then set sail on a Disney cruise! That sounds like a pretty fantastic vacation combination to me.
Of course, there’s plenty to do in San Diego even if a cruise isn’t part of your plans. Between the San Diego Zoo, beautiful beaches, waterfront attractions, and museums, you could easily fill several extra vacation days.
