World of Lion King Construction Progress

The World of Lion King is under construction behind World of Frozen at Disney Adventure World, the first expansion to the park since it reopened under its new name. Disneyland Paris photographer DLP Works recently shared aerial shots of the new land’s progress on their Facebook account.

For context, here is concept art of the final land’s layout, with the 121-foot-tall (37-meter) Pride Rock-themed log flume ride dominating the area.

The arrows pointing at the unroofed structure indicate that this is the show building for The Lion King ride, where a new concrete perimeter wall is taking shape around the flume basin. According to DLP Works, this structure will support the attraction’s final 52-foot (16-meter) drop. DLP Works also recently shared ground-level shots of the attraction’s gigantic show building for a sense of scale.

A trio of cranes is supporting the extensive construction work as black steel roof structures are also being installed throughout the area, with additional supporting framework sections staged on site. The future ride entrance and loading station are partially open to allow easier access for construction equipment and materials.

The World of Lion King at Disney Adventure World is an all-new immersive land dedicated to the characters and stories from the 1994 film, with plenty of dining, shopping, and opportunities to meet favorite characters.

The land will also feature an all-new major log flume attraction inside Pride Rock. Imagineers have revealed that the ride will delight guests with iconic moments and songs from the 1994 animated film, brought to life with Audio-Animatronics figures, special effects, and a thrilling 52-foot drop.

Scale models showcased at D23 2026 revealed Rafiki’s baobab tree, the ride vehicle, and the “Hakuna Matata” scene starring Timon and Pumbaa.

Ground-level photos also from DLP Works show the considerable progress being made on The Lion King attraction’s enormous show building.
