Aerial photos show that even more of the final track has been installed for the Monsters, Inc. door coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, revealing some of the ride path.
Door Coaster Ride Path Taking Shape as More Track Installed
Aerial photographer bioreconstruct is back above Disney’s Hollywood Studios, surveying the state of the Monsters, Inc. door coaster under construction. In the upper left of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you can see the rocky facade of Rise of the Resistance and its massive show building. The blocky door coaster building being built directly behind it will eventually be themed to the Monsters, Inc. factory.
Inside the tangle of metal framework currently comprising the structure, the suspended coaster’s track is being installed, with the majority of the black track supports already in place. The white track pieces are being installed from the ride’s lowest points upward.
As the coaster is suspended, we can make out the twists and turns that will send guests up and around by the placement of the track.
All of the track isn’t even at the construction site yet — there are still many more components staged in the construction yard nearby.
The final pieces of track are laid out with two flatbed trucks ready to be loaded. The large cylindrical black pieces to the right are the remaining track supports.
The rectangular black parts alongside the track supports are block brakes and access flooring.
This flyover video shows not only the door coaster, but more of Monstropolis under construction. The land will open in phases beginning next year.
Ground-Level View of Door Coaster Construction
Last week, our reporter captured some shots from the ground for a new perspective on the massive indoor coaster currently under construction in the former Disney’s Hollywood Studios Cast Member parking lot.
Door Coaster Beam Signing
Cast Members were recently invited to sign the beams of the new Monsters, Inc. door coaster. Beam signing is a long-standing cast member tradition for new Disney attractions being built.
Monsters, Inc. Door Coaster Construction
Monstropolis, which replaces Muppets Courtyard, will open in phases. Most of the land will open next year, but Disney hasn’t announced an opening timeframe for the coaster, which will be Disney’s first vertical lift and first suspended coaster. Aerial photos from last month provide a clearer picture of how trains will travel through the door coaster currently under construction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Parts of Monstropolis will open to guests in 2027 while construction continues on the door coaster. Follow our Monstropolis construction updates for more coverage of the upcoming land.
