Mythos Waterfront Demolition Advances as Crews Grade Former Poseidon’s Fury Site

Demolition is advancing along the waterfront at Mythos Restaurant as crews fill and grade the former Poseidon’s Fury site in The Lost Continent at Universal Islands of Adventure.

Mythos Waterfront Demolition

New aerial photos shared by bioreconstruct show the latest changes around the still-operating restaurant and across the surrounding construction area.

The latest aerial views provide a closer look at the work we recently reported along the backside of Mythos Restaurant. Portions of the restaurant’s pink rock façade have been removed near its waterfront bridge, exposing the construction beneath the themed exterior.

In an annotated photo, bioreconstruct identifies a concrete column (1) previously concealed within the artificial rockwork. The (2) marker indicates where he believes a similar square column may have been removed.

Black tarps cover portions of the partially dismantled features beside the bridge. Nearby, an excavator sits among broken concrete and rockwork, while a yellow floating barrier follows the shoreline around the work area.

The wider views show the demolition concentrated along one side of the waterfront. Mythos Restaurant and the waterfront area on the opposite side remain open to guests.

Crews are also preparing a retaining wall along the narrow strip between the restaurant and the lagoon. Long steel sections are staged beside equipment and piping along this corridor.

Mythos is scheduled to close permanently in 2027. An exact closing date has not been announced.

Former Poseidon’s Fury Site

Across the guest walkway from Mythos, the former Poseidon’s Fury site is now a broad expanse of exposed earth. Crews are adding and grading sand throughout the cleared area, with excavators, a bulldozer, and rollers visible in the photos.

Bands of light sand and darker soil cross the site, marked by overlapping equipment tracks. Deeper excavated sections remain along portions of the perimeter as work continues.

The former attraction’s plaza and Treasures of Poseidon gift shop have also been demolished, leaving an open construction area beside the curved walls separating crews from the guest pathway.

Elsewhere in the construction zone, a dump truck was spotted unloading crushed stone beside several existing material piles. Concrete pipes, box-shaped drainage structures, and other supplies are arranged nearby.

Additional crushed stone is staged near the green temporary First Aid trailers for a new service road. New gates are also waiting near the delivered material.

This follows our earlier report on service road construction and retaining wall work. The new road will provide access to the temporary first aid location and backstage areas as redevelopment continues.

Remaining Lost Continent Structures

More aerial angles show several remaining buildings within the footprint of the demolished Lost Continent area, specifically closer to the lot previously occupied by the Eighth Voyage of Sindbad theater. Guests continue to travel through the surviving section of the land toward The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Hogsmeade.

Demolition of these remaining buildings could eventually require guests to access Hogsmeade solely via the bridge near Hogwarts, though Universal has not announced such a routing change.

You can see more of the demolition efforts in motion thanks to the below video overview from bioreconstruct:

Lost Continent was once twice its current size. In 2010, it was partially taken over by The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Its former coasters, Dueling Dragons and Flying Unicorn, were turned into Dragon Challenge and Flight of the Hippogriff, respectively. Dragon Challenge closed permanently in 2017 and was replaced by Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure.

Universal has not yet revealed what will replace The Lost Continent.
