Enzo’s Hideaway is bringing back its Bootlegger’s Dinner series on December 10th, and this time, the spotlight is on WhistlePig, the whiskey maker known for its distinctive rye, bourbon, and single malt expressions. This five-course dining experience apparently brings together some seriously rare bottles (can’t say I’m an expert on this one…) and an indulgent menu designed to complement each pour. Joining guests as their honorary bootlegger guide is WhistlePig brand educator Ingrid Rodriguez, the current president of the United States Bartenders’ Guild. The evening explores several of WhistlePig’s signature expressions, including two coveted Boss Hog editions. There is also an optional supplement featuring the ultra-rare WhistlePig “Beholden” 21 Year Single Malt, which is sure to catch the attention of whiskey enthusiasts.
The five-course menu begins with Crudo e Caviale, featuring red prawns from Mazara del Vallo, Russian Osetra caviar, lemon, and extra virgin olive oil, alongside WhistlePig PiggyBack 6 Year Rye. Other courses include a selection of cured meats and cheeses with WhistlePig 10 Year Small Batch Rye, house-made paccheri with milk-braised wild boar ragù, Roman spices, Pecorino Romano, and fresh white truffle, followed by A5 Japanese wagyu with roasted squash, mushrooms, bourbon-maple demi-glace, and black truffle. The evening finishes with Caramel Whiskey Custard, cinnamon oat streusel, spiced apple compote, white chocolate whipped ganache, and caramel tuile.
With rare whiskey, fresh ingredients, and some seriously indulgent dishes on the menu, this sounds like a memorable evening for anyone who appreciates a thoughtfully paired dinner.
