The Disneyland App Just Quietly Updated To Reflect NEW Changes

Whenever you’re at Disneyland Resort, using the app will make your trip 10x easier! It’ll keep you updated on wait times for attractions, let you know when shows are happening, help you order food, and help you navigate around the parks.

We like to check the Disneyland app even when we’re not at the parks, just to keep an eye out to see if anything updates with all the construction that’s happening. Well, it sure did! We spotted a change with the Disneyland app that now reflects some of the construction that’s currently happening.

Disneyland Resort is currently undergoing its $1.9 billion expansion project known as DisneylandForward.  Part of the project is a massive new parking structure on the resort’s east side. Disney has already broken ground on the new parking structure, which is set to hold 6,000 cars and be seven levels. Originally, it was supposed to be eight, but the size was reduced.

The garage will include 316 electric vehicle charging stations, and the structure will also have 18 shade canopies. A pedestrian bridge is also being built over Harbor Boulevard to connect the garage to the theme park esplanade, which means construction is also in progress in the eastern portion of the Esplanade. Disneyland has already removed the ticket booths in the east Esplanade.

Construction

With all of the construction happening with this DisneylandForward initiative, changes have arrived to the Disneyland App. Specifically, we noticed changes to the map that now reflect some of the progress on construction. You can see there are only two bus loops to the right of the Esplanade, with the rest of the area currently blank. Before, you could see multiple bus loops in that area.

That’s not the only change to the map! Behind Indiana Jones Adventure in Disneyland Park, the app is now displaying a large parking area with bus loops. However, before the change, the majority of the space behind the popular attraction was just green space.

The new parking structure means that the existing Disneyland bus drop-off and pick-up area along Harbor Boulevard will be relocated to Disneyland’s former Manchester employee parking lot near the I-5 freeway.

Disney is currently looking at a 2028 opening timeline for the new parking structure, which makes sense considering how big of a project it is. DisneylandForward is more than just new parking space. It also includes adding the brand-new Coco ride to Disney California Adventure, as well as a reimagined Tomorrowland and a huge expansion coming to Avengers Campus. All that, plus more!
