REVIEW: We Ate a Burger With a Hash Brown Inside It at Disney World, and Now We’re Ruined for Regular Breakfast

When it comes to dining at Disney World, you’ve got a TON of options. Whether you want to grab something to eat in the parks or you want to grab a bite at any of the numerous hotels on property, you’ve got a lot to choose from.

It’s breakfast time!

We recently stopped by Steakhouse 71 at Disney’s Contemporary Resort to see if breakfast is really worth it at this spot, and now we’re bringing you our FULL review. Is it worth replacing your current breakfast routine in the parks? Let’s find out together!

Atmosphere

This restaurant is the ultimate definition of retro-chic. If you’re a fan of classic images, Mary Blair, and the original design of Walt Disney World, this is the place to come. There are so many pictures from the original building and layout of the park, as well as some original artwork on the back wall. The lighting here is very warm and ambient, though there aren’t any windows, as it’s on the ground floor,

It can get a little loud in here, especially when it’s packed at lunch or dinner time, but it’s not too overwhelming. This is a great option, especially if you’re staying at the Contemporary, because you can walk right across to the Magic Kingdom after you’re done or stop here for a nice dinner after a long day in the park.

It can get a bit loud at times

Just be aware that you won’t be able to park here and then go to the Magic Kingdom, as they do enforce parking here, so you’re only allowed to park for a limited time.

The bar

But enough about the restaurant — what’s on the menu here?!

Menu

This restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. On the breakfast menu, you’ll find some Wake Up Calls for drinks, which are morning cocktails, as well as some non-alcoholic specialties, in addition to coffee and tea.

As for food, you’ll find a few starters, such as oatmeal and fresh fruit, but the entrées are really where it’s at. You can choose between offerings like Steak and Eggs, Omelets, a Breakfast Burger, Eggs Benedict, and more. A few additional sides are also on the menu.

And now, onto the main event — the food!

Eats

First up, we grabbed the Breakfast Burger for $23, which is made with Two Pressed Patties, Pork Belly, Avocado, Egg, and Hash Brown Patty served with Fresh Fruit. Y’all, this thing is NO JOKE.

Breakfast Burger

If you’re somebody who loves an everything breakfast all in one amazing, fantastically huge bite, this burger is for you. The avocado is rich, the bacon is nice and crunchy, and the hash browns are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a subtly salty flavor. So yes, you get an entire breakfast platter in a single bite. Not to mention, you’ve got a delicious steakhouse-quality burger in there as well!

This thing is BIG!

The bun is an onion bun, which adds a little savory note that we enjoyed. Now, about three bites in, you may find yourself removing the bun and just taking bites of the cooked egg, or letting the yolk burst all over the plate to take some bites with burger and avocado and bacon. We did find ourselves beginning to push away the hash brown after a bite or two just so we could enjoy the other components — it was delicious, but there was a lot of it!

Seriously, this thing isn’t for the weak

Serving this with fresh fruit is absolutely the right move, as we feel anything else would have been too much. We also think this is big enough to absolutely split with someone else, so that’s important to keep in mind. After all, you probably need snacking room in the parks later, right?

It’s a breakfast platter in one bite!

We also grabbed the Seasonal Pancakes, which were pumpkin spice at the time of our visit, for $15; they’re seasonally inspired Pancakes with a choice of Bacon, Pork Sausage, or Turkey Sausage.

Seasonal Pancakes

These are drizzled with cream cheese frosting and covered in little perfect nuggets of toasted walnuts. When we say these are perfection, we mean it! The pumpkin spice comes through in every single bite, and you can control how much of the creamy and tart cream cheese frosting and nuts you get in each bite. These will make you think of sweater weather as you’re going outside enjoying your theme park days, and if you’re a pumpkin spice fan, this is a must-have.

We’d get these time and time again!

The flavors are balanced, and when we say these might be one of the best ways to start off your Disney World day, we mean it with our WHOLE hearts!

Nosh or Not

This Disney World restaurant is a must-visit if…

  • Craving a delicious breakfast minutes from Magic Kingdom. On the Contemporary’s first floor, Steakhouse 71 serves polished, classic-meets-Florida plates—think oak-grilled steaks, seafood, and that cult-favorite Bacon & Eggs (maple-lacquered pork belly over smoked cheese grits). Date-night vibes without leaving the monorail loop.
  • Top-notch bites at a reasonable price. Morning highlights include Walt’s Prime Rib Hash, Eggs Benedict, and Steak & Eggs—a real sit-down breakfast before (or after) park time. The Stack Burger consistently lives in our heads rent-free. It’s one of the resort’s most talked-about bites—and yes, it lives up to the hype. Save room for the showstopper dessert. The Signature Chocolate Cake—fifteen layers of Jack Daniel’s–infused chocolate and mousse with raspberries—has main-character energy.
  • Dining Plan friendly + easy logistics. It’s typically 1 Table-Service credit on the Disney Dining Plan, and the walk from the monorail to your table is about 90 seconds.

You should skip this Disney World spot if…

  • Maybe skip it if you’re watching the clock or the wallet. This is leisurely table service (not a dash-in quick service), and steaks can push the check higher than nearby grab-and-go.
  • Hoping for characters or fireworks views? No meet-and-greets here, and the fireworks viewing is upstairs at California Grill—Steakhouse 71 is about the food, not the skyline show.
  • Chasing heavy Disney theming. Décor nods to 1971 are subtle and mid-century sleek; if you want big, immersive theming, book elsewhere.

Overall

This spot lands at the top of our list consistently, especially since prices aren’t too intense for a steakhouse — especially for breakfast! Breakfast is often one of the cheapest meals you’ll find at table service restaurants around Disney World, and that’s also the case here. If you want a great meal to start off the day close to Magic Kingdom, we highly recommend.

We’re happy as can be!
