Universal Orlando Resort is changing the names and arrangement of their parking garage sections, introducing new IPs and removing old ones.
Universal Orlando Updating Parking Garages
Previously, each of the two parking garages had three sections. These sections weren’t divided by level but spanned multiple floors.
For example, in the south garage, the Spider-Man section is the closest one to the security checkpoint on all five floors of the garage. The Cat in the Hat is in the center of every floor and E.T. is at the far end. This garage currently remains unchanged.
The north garage, however, has new signage indicating the entire first floor is becoming the Trolls section. Old Jurassic Park signs have been replaced by illuminated signs displaying a pink Trolls graphic.
Signs for each row are being replaced, as are the signs at the stairs and escalators. From above, these signs list row numbers. For guests arriving, the signs let them know what level they’re on and what level they need to go to for theme park and CityWalk access — level 3, Shrek.
Shrek isn’t an existing section name but it will be. This sign in a staircase reveals all the updated level names for the north garage. The current sections are Jurassic Park, King Kong, and Jaws. When each level has its own name, they will be:
- Trolls
- E.T.
- Shrek
- Minions
- Transformers
Trolls, Shrek, Minions, and Transformers are all brand-new section names. Each has its own main color and icon.
The E.T. section in the south garage will be removed so level 2 in the north garage will be the only E.T. section. The current E.T. section has a green color scheme with an image of E.T. The sign in the north garage gives it a light blue color scheme and an icon of Elliott riding his bike with E.T. in the basket.
We noticed the north garage sign features all IPs from Universal Studios Florida. We would guess the south garage will have all IPs from Universal Islands of Adventure, which means Jurassic Park and King Kong may move there. But it looks like Jaws will be removed entirely.
With the updated arrangement, Universal will need to use 10 IPs instead of just six to label the levels.
Plenty of signage remains for the old parking sections as Universal continues to make the switch.
Sections of the first floor of the north garage are closed while crews continue work.
The signs at the security checkpoint were switched to screens in 2024 so shouldn’t need to be completely replaced, just updated with new graphics.
