A motorcyclist has filed a lawsuit against Walt Disney World after a security gate came down, cracking his helmet at Magic Kingdom.

Disney Sued After Security Gate Incident at Magic Kingdom

Motorcyclist Christopher Dickens filed a lawsuit against Walt Disney World Parks and Resorts after a security gate at the Magic Kingdom came down on him and cracked his helmet while he was riding his motorcycle.

In the legal filings, Dickens claims that on or around January 11, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., he was “working off-duty and was making the final preparations for the Annual Disney Half Marathon.” Dickens was then traveling on his motorcycle toward the Monorail Way guard gate. After being waved in by a Disney Security Guard, Dickens was struck by the gate, causing his helmet to crack.

The document also makes claims that the Disney Security guard failed to operate the gate properly, which led to the incident that caused injuries, and that Dickens could not avoid the situation.

Further clauses in the document claim the Magic Kingdom was aware of the dangerous, negligent conditions, and they failed to properly maintain the security gate.

According to the filing document, Dickens is seeking compensatory damages from the incident exceeding the sum of $50,000 and all other costs for damages recoverable under the State of Florida and beyond.

Dickens is also seeking a trial by jury.

Universal was also just sued, but by a guest who was left seriously injured after an unusable toilet at Universal’s Cabana Bay allegedly forced her to use a bathtub.
