The Wookiee Cookie is a Star Wars snack staple in Walt Disney World, and it’s received a holiday makeover for Life Day.
Life Day Wookiee Cookie – $7.49
Two oatmeal cookies with cassis eggnog buttercream garnished with a white chocolate coin
To celebrate the holiday season and the growing popularity of the now-canonized Wookiee holiday Life Day (November 17), the Wookiee Cookie from Backlot Express in Disney’s Hollywood Studios has received a colorful update in the form of the crimson-hued Life Day Wookiee Cookie.

For context, here is the classic Wookiee Cookie, which is described as “two oatmeal cookies with vanilla cream filling garnished with a milk chocolate sash on top” (essentially an oversized oatmeal creme pie).
Some differences are immediately noticeable beyond just the vibrant red color and “Life Day” chocolate coin, which rests on a piped dollop of bright pink buttercream.
The large oatmeal cookies are more like cake layers than thick cookies, with a more uniform appearance and thickness.

The bottom cookie is identical to the top, with visible flecks of oatmeal.

Inside the sweet sandwich, the same pink buttercream has been piped into an even, albeit thin, layer.
Review

For starters, as you can tell, this Life Day treat is massive, much like the furry species for which it’s named. We recommend sharing this with someone else or even a group.
The cookies themselves are very dry and chewy and have a faint hint of raspberry flavor, which likely comes from traces of the cassis eggnog buttercream clinging to the crumbs. Thankfully, the cream filling does help with the dry texture, but you have to get a few bites in to get enough to make a difference.
The buttercream flavor was largely eggnog-dominant, with only a slight hint of fruitiness from the cassis, which is probably more there for the color. Interestingly, the coin on top was bittersweet, which is unusual for white chocolate.
We actually see this dessert pairing well with a Pink Milk from the Galaxy’s Edge Milk Stand, or maybe a watermelon lemonade. However, if you don’t like oatmeal cookies or eggnog, stick with the original Wookiee Cookie.

Life Day in Star Wars

Life Day is a Wookiee holiday in the Star Wars universe first mentioned in the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special (1978), which centers on Chewbacca trying to get home to his family for the holiday. Despite George Lucas’ attempts to bury the special, it has attained cult status — largely for being the first appearance of Boba Fett — and was cemented in the Star Wars canon when it was name-dropped in the first episode of The Mandalorian.
Life Day is celebrated on November 17, the original air date of the Star Wars Holiday Special, and is represented at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge with Chewbacca meeting in his red Life Day robes at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
