News: Disneyland Passholders Get a New Name

It’s just January, but Disney has announced a TON of changes coming to Disney Parks soon!

Perhaps Disney’s biggest announcement so far, though, is about the company’s plan to discontinue the Disneyland Annual Passholder Program.

Disneyland Resort has been closed since last March, and there have been no announcements of a reopening date or timeline. Annual Passholders received automatic extensions on their passes, while their monthly payments were paused. But then Disney announced that it planned on replacing the Passholder program with something else.

Now, Disney has announced that Passholders who had active memberships as of March 14th, 2020 are now part of what the company calls “Legacy Passholders.” Those passholders will have access to magical extras that include special merchandise and food and beverage offerings.

Passholder discounts have also been extended for a limited time for shopping and food and beverage at Downtown Disney and California Adventure’s Buena Vista Street. Now that the stay-at-home order for the county there has been lifted, stationary and social-distanced dining is now available there again. Previously, restaurants could only offer take-out options that could not be eaten in the vicinity. Stores are still operating at limited capacity.

One of the Magical Extras is 30% discount on select merchandise at select Downtown Disney and Buena Vista Street locations. The offer is valid Monday through Thursday, starting on January 18th and ending on February 25th.

On days the discount is not available and after the offer has ended, passholders will “continue to receive applicable discounts, based on their Passport type on merchandise and food and beverages at select Downtown Disney District and Buena Vista Street locations until new membership offerings are announced.”

We’ll continue to keep an eye on the situation and keep you updated on any changes or when the new membership program is announced!
