We have been soaking in all of the NEW things that have recently opened in Disney World, like the beautiful new EPCOT entrance fountain and the delicious Gideon’s Bakehouse. But, there’s still quite a few projects that have been delayed following the temporary closure of the theme parks.

We are no stranger to construction walls and an “in-progress” status when it comes to projects around Disney World. Though, we’re starting to wonder what’s happening with some highly anticipated restaurants that were seemingly announced eons ago.

Space 220

Guests dining at the new EPCOT restaurant, Space 220, will be transported 220 miles above earth via elevator to the Centauri Space Station, where they will dine off a menu of internationally-inspired cuisine, wine, and craft beer. The meal comes with an even better setting — panoramic views of outer space! But, we’re finding ourself constantly asking, will we ever get to dine at Space 220?

The opening date of this immersive restaurant has been pushed back multiple times. BUT we actually got to see some progress recently! The construction walls around the entrance came down at the end of December, revealing what looks like a sign for the restaurant.

Hopefully this means that we’re approaching an opening date and will be able to get a look inside the new restaurant soon.

But, for now, we’re still waiting for take-off.

La Crêperie de Paris

Heading on over to the France Pavilion in EPCOT, there’s another restaurant that is still under construction. La Crêperie de Paris was slated to open alongside Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure this past summer, but there have been significant delays due to the theme park closure.

La Crêperie de Paris will be both a quick-service AND a table-service restaurant and will feature a delightful menu from celebrity chef Jérôme Bocuse. We’ve seen quite a bit of progress on the France Pavilion recently, with construction walls down in many areas that allow guests to wander through a bit of the expansion.

Construction walls are still up next to the dining location, but you can see the outdoor queue, and some other unique details. There looks to be a location for the menu on the building, window details that say “Crêpes à emporter” which translates to “crepes to go,” and designs on the molding around the windows.

Needless to say, we can’t wait to explore inside! Disney has announced that the restaurant will opening in 2021 with Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure so we expect more and more construction progress in the coming months!

Here’s a first look at La Creperie de Paris!

Beatrix

Outside of EPCOT, there are even more restaurants underway. Over at Disney Springs, we’ve been tracking the construction progress on Beatrix. The new restaurant is taking over the former location of Bongos that closed back in August, 2020. It will serve up health-food in a grab-and-go market style with a coffee shop AND a “neighborhood restaurant.”

Unfortunately, it was announced back in September that construction would be on pause and there has been no update — or seemingly progress — on construction since. For now, onlookers get a view of construction walls when they’re walking around Disney Springs.

Roundup Rodeo BBQ

We were that we’d be trying all the ribs and corn on the cob we could get our hands on at Roundup Rodeo by now, but construction walls still separate us form the new restaurant at Hollywood Studios. The new dining experience will immerse guests in Andy’s rodeo creation We’ve seen concept art and an aerial look of the colorful restaurant serving up BBQ, but that’s really about it.

Disney had announced that the new table-service restaurant would be opening sometime in 2020, but there has been no updates since. At least we can confirm there’s definitely been a delay since we’re now about a month into 2021.

Andy must need some extra time to get all his play sets ready for us to visit.
