How to Hack a MAC and CHEESE Burger in Disney World

With so many snack spots and restaurants all around EPCOT, it can be really difficult to know where you should stop for your next meal.

Regal Eagle Smokehouse

Should you get the triple decker garlic toast pulled pork sandwich at Sunshine Seasons, opt for some fish and chips, or stop by France for a GIANT piece of bread? There are LOTS of choices. Well, recently we stopped by Regal Eagle Smokehouse in The American Adventure to try some of the food there and we tried a food hack that you might want to check out!

If you’ve never been to Regal Eagle Smokehouse: Craft Drafts & Barbecue, it’s a quick service location at The American Adventure in EPCOT that serves up a variety of barbecue dishes as well as some salads, pizza, and a few other items.

One of the special things about this spot is that it is themed to The Muppets!! So, if you wish the Muppets would show up in the parks more often, you’ll definitely want to stop by this spot and take in all the fun. The story behind this spot is that there is a competition going on which is a salute to all cook-offs, but mostly barbecue!

There’s inside and outdoor seating, so you have some options there which is nice. And while we have enjoyed some of the items here in the past, some of the items items there have not necessarily wowed us in the past. So, recently, we made a pit stop at Regal Eagle to try their Cheeseburger with a side of Mac and Cheese.

Cheeseburger and Mac & Cheese

The cheeseburger itself is a 1/3 lb Angus Burger on Garlic Toast (YUUUUUM) topped with American Cheese, Lettuce, and Tomato. For $13.49, this item is served with your choice of side. We opted for the Mac & Cheese, but there are also onion rings, baked beans, fries, and coleslaw available. Check out our review of some of the side dishes here!

A quick note before we get into our review — Regal Eagle has a number of sauces you can choose from to add some extra punches of flavor to your meal. The sauces used to be self-serve, but that’s no the case anymore. Instead, you need to ask for them at the counter. So, just keep that in mind!

Okay, so onto our review! We’ll start with the bad. The burger patty is pretty thin. If you’re looking for a big, juicy, giant burger patty — this really isn’t it. And it tasted like a pretty typical (perhaps previously frozen) burger patty.

The good: this burger comes on GARLIC TOAST. Are burgers better when served on garlic toast you ask? We have evaluated this question before and once again our answer is 10000% yes. The best part of this burger (at least in our opinion) is the garlic toast. In fact, the burger would likely get a more negative review from us without that garlic toast on top.

But, what about the mac and cheese? The first time we had it, it was sort-of bland in terms of flavor, although it was better when we had it during another visit. This time, we are pleased to report that it was in fact not as bland as before. We saw the Cast Members adding a bit of salt or seasoning to order, so we think that helped in the flavor department.

Mac and Cheese

It’s better than when we first had it, but overall we’d say it isn’t the best mac and cheese ever. Still, it is something that we think kids will enjoy!

BUT, here’s where the real artistry comes in. You can eat your burger, and you can eat your mac and cheese. But, what happens when you COMBINE them? You know we’ve got to try ALL the food hacks here at DFB, so we put that mac and cheese on the burger for some extra cheesy action!

Putting the mac and cheese on the burger actually helped with the flavor of the patty.

So, if you’re going to get these two items separately anyway, you might want to think about combining them for some extra flavor.

Mac and Cheese ON the Cheeseburger

Overall, we think the food we had recently at Regal Eagle was good and it is a place picky eaters might really enjoy. But, foodies should probably skip the burger here and consider instead getting some of the barbecue dishes at Regal Eagle that we’ve enjoyed in the past. Or, they might want to just search elsewhere in World Showcase for some more unique items. With all of the delicious options in EPCOT, this spot frankly just has a lot of tough competition.
