This week, we’ve visited all four Disney Parks, along with a handful of resorts to check out the MANY projects they’ve got going on!
We have plenty of updates to share this week, so let’s dive right in!
Magic Kingdom
Peter Pan’s Flight
Right now, the area of Fantasyland near Peter Pan’s Flight is looking…not so magical. This brown scrim in place around the attraction’s building is pretty overwhelming and not too nice to see.
The attraction is still open while its exterior gets refurbished, but we’re kinda hoping that a little scrim makeover will happen.

Mad Tea Party
This past Monday, February 22nd, Mad Tea Party closed for refurbishment!
Now, you know Disney’s gotta try to make its construction magical somehow. You won’t find basic “this ride is temporarily closed” signs here! Instead, in true Alice in Wonderland fashion, the signs read, “Oh my, oh me, we’ve run out of tea!”
The ride is anticipated to reopen on March 5th, according to Disney’s website.
Here’s EVERYTHING Closed in Disney World This Week
Cinderella Castle
Cinderella Castle has A LOT going on right now. Last week, we saw hedges surrounding the front of the castle. Gray scrim also covered many sections of the stage. Then, the moat started to be drained.
Here’s where we’re at this week: the moat is now totally drained! From this view on the Liberty Square bridge, you can see a pretty dry waterway.
The water is gone close-up to the castle too.
Later in the week, lots of construction equipment had made its way into the now empty moat.
This is certainly a different view than we’re used to seeing!
New regal-looking signs surround the castle stage, asking guests to, “please pardon the pixie dust.”
Maintenance is taking place over on the Castle stage, revealing wooden planks.
Here, you can see some of the wooden supports below the stage floor that support the entertainment cast during their performances (when they’re taking place)!
Things are certainly busy at the hub of Magic Kingdom with all of these projects going on. As the castle gears up for its 50th Anniversary makeover, we’ll be updating y’all on its progress!
BIG Details About Disney World’s 50th Anniversary Revealed!
EPCOT
EPCOT Entrance
Near Spaceship Earth and EPCOT’s new, stunning fountain, construction walls are FINALLY down!! Previously, the walls were in place near the left side of the fountain.
Now, the space is free of walls! We loved doing photo shoots with the fountain and Spaceship Earth before, but now the area is even more picturesque without the walls!
Seriously, expect more pics of this fountain to come your way.

Future World
Now, don’t get too excited. Although some of EPCOT’s walls have come down, there are still plenty more throughout the park as it undergoes its transformation . Currently, work continues on the refurbishment of Mouse Gear’s exterior.
These projects have a long way to go, but we’re excited to see the end result!

Harmonious
EPCOT’s upcoming fireworks show, Harmonious, reached a major construction milestone this weekend with the installation of the show’s centerpiece.
This HUGE ring out on World Showcase Lagoon is over six stories tall and will feature a high-density water curtain, moving fountains, and lights.
It’s still unclear when the show will debut, but seeing all the progress certainly feels promising!

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind
In Future World, the park’s upcoming indoor coaster continues to make progress! This week, we saw the same blue paneling on the roof being installed on the sides of the building.
From afar, the exterior of the building has really taken shape.
We can’t wait to blast through the galaxy alongside Star-Lord and Groot!
Did Disney Edit a Photo From SPACE to Hide a New Ride?!
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
Pandora — The World of Avatar
Painting continues in Pandora to spruce up the bioluminescent glow that lights up the land at night.
If you’re visiting Pandora at night any time soon, it should be nice and colorful!

Kali River Rapids
Animal Kingdom’s water ride is currently closed for refurbishment. This week, we noticed some construction workers on-site.
This ride is expected to reopen on April 3rd.

Disney Resorts
Polynesian Village Resort
The Polynesian Resort is still moving forward with its big project to incorporate Moana-themed elements throughout the hotel! Currently, the bungalows are open and the rest of the resort is expected to open sometime this summer.
As guest rooms receive makeovers, construction walls are in place surrounding the buildings that house them.
At this building, you can see scaffolding in place near the stairwell as work is done to the exterior.
Currently, Kiki Tikis Splash Play Area is also getting a little TLC. During one of our visits this week, a construction crew and machinery were both working on-site at the drained play area.
A few months back, new crossbeams that sit atop the Great Ceremonial House were installed. From the second floor of the building, we got a really cool view of them through the glass roof!
This refurbishment is expected to last a few more months, but we’ve already seen some Moana influence in the resort!

Art of Animation Resort
A couple of weeks ago, we shared a look at the characters being REMOVED from the huge character pages at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort! The pages are totally blank, except for Simba’s.
However, by the time Saturday rolled around, Lightning McQueen had already raced back onto the page (ha-ha). This mural appears to be the same as the previous one, just with a bright and fresh coat of paint.
The other pages remain blank for now.
Here, the Big Blue Pool is undergoing refurbishment. We saw it drained last week.
And here it is, still drained, looking pretttty sad.
Hopefully, guests will be able to swim among Nemo and friends soon.

Pop Century Resort
While we’re on the topic of sad-looking pools, we’ve got another one for ya. The Hippy Dippy Pool at Disney’s Pop Century Resort is also being refurbished.
This pool is totally drained as well.
And, the big “POP” sign is also getting work done on it. Construction workers were working on it during our visit.
Lots of Disney Pools are being refurbished right now!

Walt Disney World Entrance Sign
Over on World Drive, another Walt Disney World entrance sign continues to get its reimagined look.
Donald, here, has already been updated. The wall behind him has gotten repainted with different shades of gray and gold accents are in place as well.
The large part of the sign that reads, “Welcome to Walt Disney World Resort,” has also been painted a rich blue.
Well, that should cover it! We had a LOT of updates to share this week and we’re going to keep ’em coming. Check back with DFB for all the latest Disney news!
