The BEST (and WORST) Things We Ate in Disney World in February!

Another month has come and gone, which means it’s time to talk about our best and worst Disney World FOODIE finds!

Disney’s Animal Kingdom

There weren’t any major openings this month or EPCOT festivals, leaving us to find some new treats for ourselves! And since we’ve tried just about everything there is to try in Disney World, we had to get a little creative.

The Best:

Bacon Grilled Cheese Hack — Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew

If we had to summarize runaway hits for the month of February in one or two words, those words would be “hacks” and “upgrades.” A lot of our favorite items from the past month were items you might not necessarily notice right away on a menu, but with a little investigative work, you too can become an expert Disney World food hacker!

A DFB Snack Hack at Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew

One of our all-time favorite finds was at Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew in Disney Springs, which we already raved about when it first opened back in January. Since then, we’ve tried a variety of their supersized donuts and sandwiches. But what happens when you combine an Everglazed donut with a savory sandwich?

What do you mean you’ve never tried a grilled cheese sandwich on a glazed donut bun?!

Turns out, you can upgrade any of Everglazed’s sandwiches for an extra $1 to have it come served on a griddled glazed donut. So when we ordered The Grilled Cheeeeeese on a recent visit, we upgraded the bread to a donut AND we added bacon for another $1.

The result? Cheesy bacon-y goodness, all encased in a glazed donut. Can one sandwich change the world? Maybe not, but this sandwich definitely rocked ours!

Spiked Kakamora — Barefoot Pool Bar

Our second top pick from the month of February is actually a beverage we concocted ourselves over at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort! If you’ve been following along for any length of time, you’re likely well aware of our undying devotion to the Kakamora Float that you can find at Aloha Isle in Magic Kingdom.

Kakamora Float

So when we had the opportunity to inspire an amazing Cast Member to construct at “Spiked Kakamora at Barefoot Pool Bar, we couldn’t resist! A Spiked Kakamora is a mix of Parrot Bay coconut rum, pineapple juice, piña colada mix, and blue curaçao.

Spiked Kakamora!

Keep in mind that this drink doesn’t come with Dole Whip, but it was a tasty frozen invention of sorts nonetheless! We’re looking forward to ordering this again and again as the weather gets warmer!

Nutella Waffle Ice Cream Hack — Sleepy Hollow Refreshments and

We have ANOTHER hack from this month to share with you! As you may have heard, Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in Magic Kingdom once again serves the to-die-for Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich all. day. long. As perfect as the Waffle Sandwich is on its own, we couldn’t help but wonder if there was a way to elevate it and bring it to the next level. Enter: ice cream.

Nutella Waffle Hack

First, order the Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich, but ask for all of the ingredients to come separately. Then, grab a scoop of plain ice cream from Tomorrowland Terrace (or soft serve from Auntie Gravity’s if Tomorrowland Terrace is closed).

Then, you’re going to want to STACK in this order: waffle, Nutella, ice cream, Nutella, waffle, fresh fruit. Repeat.

Nutella Waffle Hack

It sounds too good to be true, but we can’t help but pat ourselves on the back for combing two of our favorite snacks in Disney World. Give it a try next time you’re in Magic Kingdom!

Coconut & Pineapple Dole Whip Swirl — Aloha Isle

The next item on our list of best snacks for the month of February involves no hacking or special requests of any kind! When it comes to Dole Whip, the classic pineapple flavor stands out as one of the most iconic Disney snacks.

Aloha Isle

But did you know that there are actually a variety of flavors that Dole Whip comes in, including coconut? The wide selection of flavors have often resulted in equally iconic swirls, such as the Citrus Swirl at Sunshine Tree Terrace.

Citrus Swirl

This month, however, we were introduced to perhaps our new favorite Dole Whip swirl: coconut and pineapple! We haven’t been able to order this swirl combo before, but with the return of the Kakamora Float to Aloha Isle, you can now combine the classic Pineapple with Coconut Dole Whip — one of the key ingredients in the float.

We love you, coconut pineapple Dole Whip swirl, so so much

We’ve been crossing all of our fingers and toes that this swirl would make its debut one day at Disney World, but in the past, the coconut soft serve was in its own machine. It looks like THAT snafu has been remedied, and you can now enjoy the amazingness that is the Coconut Pineapple Dole Whip Swirl!

Mardi Gras Smoked Crawdog — B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co.

The last item on our list of the best things we’ve tried this month came from the most unlikely of places. We’re heading back to B.B. Wolf’s Sausage Co. in Disney Springs to revisit a limited-time menu offering for Mardis Gras, the Smoked Crawdog!

The Mardi Gras Smoked Crawdog!

Now, it’s not every day you’ll find us dreaming about a hot dog made of smoked andouille sausage topped with crawfish, lemon caper aioli, and creole pepper sauce. But believe us when we say that it all came together and WORKED. Between the perfect balance of flavor and heat to the brilliant combination of toppings, this was a far cry from some of the other hot dogs we’ve tried recently in Disney Springs.

The Worst:

Strawberry My Chai — Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew

While there were plenty of food and drink items we ADORED this month in Disney World, there were a few things that stood out for all the wrong reasons. We wish we could love everything we eat and drink, but when something doesn’t quite hit the mark, we want to make sure you know about it! So for our first item on our list of the worst things we tried in February, we’re actually going BACK to Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew.

Strawberry My Chai

We know, we never thought we would find something from Everglazed on our “worst” list, but we gotta give it up to the Strawberry My Chai for proving us wrong. The beverage is a mixture of Iced Chai Tea, Strawberry Milk, and Strawberry Syrup Swirl, and it comes topped with a Strawberry Deluxe Donut.

Strawberry My Chai

While the Strawberry Deluxe Donut is great, we were really thrown off by the odd flavor combo of chai and strawberry milk. It might work for you, but it didn’t for us!

Cherry Coke Float — Storybook Treats

Floats are among the funnier Disney World snacks in that we either seem to LOVE them or really want nothing to do with them. It’s as if we had soft-serve floats on a sliding scale, and on one end was the Kakamora Float, but wayyyyy on the other end was something akin to the Poor Unfortunate Souls Float. And somewhere in the middle, but leaning more toward the Poor Unfortunate Souls, is where you’ll find the Cherry Coke Float.

Cherry Coke Float

We THOUGHT this would be a runaway hit…like, come on, it’s Cherry Coke! But the latest float concoction landed a bit flat over at Storybook Treats. Once again, like the Poor Unfortunate Souls Float we were hit with a strong medicine-like flavor when we bit into the cherry soft serve.

Cherry Coke Float

We will say that this item was a bit of a menu hack — we ordered the Cherry Soft Serve with Diet Coke instead of Cherry Coke. We found that the Diet Coke did a decent job of cutting back on that medicine flavor, but overall, we won’t be ordering it a second time.

Valentine’s Brownie — Creature Comforts

OK, this final item on our “worst” list lost a TON of points just from a sheer lack of creativity. Way back in December, we checked out the Santa Mickey Mousse Brownie over at Creature Comforts in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. This treat hasn’t had the best track record with us, and once again, we felt very “meh” about the 2020 version.

Santa Mickey Mousse

Cut to this month, we heard that Creature Comforts would sell a Valentine’s Brownie topped with a Mousse DomeHMMM…sounds familiar. We promise the picture above this text and the picture below are of two different brownies, but we’ll let you be the judge:

Valentine’s Brownie Topped with a Mousse Dome

To Disney’s credit, the filling in the Valentine’s Brownie is different: the latest version is strawberry mousse as opposed to the Santa Mickey Mouse which was white chocolate peppermint. It tasted fine, but ultimately we wished Disney had gone the extra mile in coming up with something truly unique and original for Valentine’s Day (when we were already stuffed with chocolate this and strawberry that all month long).
