Welcome back, DFB friends! We’re here with another What’s New at Magic Kingdom!
And, we’ve got plenty of merchandise, crowds, and construction updates to share with you. So, let’s jump right on in!
Magic Kingdom Construction Update
PeopleMover
It’s been a long journey of tracking the construction going on at the PeopleMover. The ride closed just a few days before Disney World back in March and has yet to reopen — that’s almost a full year! On our most recent visit, we looked up at the loading dock to see that there was a Cast Member doing some work, but no movement of the ride just yet.
Anytime we see something going on up there we get excited. What can we say — we miss that leisurely ride through Tomorrowland!

Peter Pan’s Flight
Over at Peter Pan’s Flight, we spotted some new construction skrim trying to be all incognito. You know that “Don’t Be Suspicious” song that everyone’s using on TikTok? We’re pretty sure that was MADE for Walt Disney World. They’re not fooling anyone with these fake building scrims.
The new skrim starts near the entrance of Peter Pan’s Flight and extends around the queue. This area has been blocked off for a little bit now, but shorter construction walls were surrounding the area.
Now, you get to stand around the scrim-covered building when you’re waiting in line for one of the more popular rides in Magic Kingdom.
Here’s why this is a BIG update!
Magic Kingdom Merchandise Update
Uptown Jewelers
Another new Disney Dooney & Bourke Collection is on its way to the parks. We spotted the new Robinhood Dooney & Bourke bags on display in the shop window. Three bags will be debuting covered in characters from the classic Disney movie. There is a smaller bag for $128 and a crossbody for $198…
…and a larger tote for $268. The new collection will release in the Disney parks on March 8th!
And…if you’re a fan of the bags, Fabiola Garza Villalobos, the designer of these bags will be at Disney Springs on March 8th between 10AM to 12PM to meet guests and sign the bags at Ever After Jewelry Co. & Accessories.

Magic Kingdom Crowd Update
Wait Times
While there are still lots of people visiting Disney World, Magic Kingdom was less crowded than it has been the past few weeks when we visited. The shortest line that we personally saw was for Haunted Mansion, with only a 25-minute wait…
…and Space Mountain was a 35-minute wait. Social distancing has made a lot of these lines appear longer than they actually are, so even though the queue starts outside, it’s not a bad wait.
“it’s a small world” was also around a 35-minute wait…
…and the popular interactive ride, Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin was 40-minutes.
Over in Fantasyland, Peter Pan’s Flight was a 40-minute wait…
…and, the ride with the longest wait we saw was Pirates of the Caribbean with a 45-minute wait.
Like we said, with social distancing, the lines can expand pretty far beyond the queues that Disney has set up. And, that has meant that the Winnie the Pooh line can end up pretty far away from the Hundred Acre Woods. It was all the way back to the Cheshire Cafe when we passed by!
All in all, it was nice to be at the park with some lower crowd levels.
Park Close
Magic Kingdom closed at 7PM, which is fairly early for Disney vacationers. So that meant a lot of people were still in the park and headed in the exact same direction at the same time, which made for a busy Main Street, U.S.A. Everyone was grabbing their Cinderella Castle pictures and lingering to take in Magic Kingdom in the evening.
And, those who weren’t lingering on Main Street, U.S.A. were standing in the long line to hop on the monorail. At park close the wait was 45-minutes. We definitely would rather have waited for that long to get on Pirates of the Caribbean!
That being said, a long wait for the monorail at park close isn’t that unusual. Everyone has to get home and there are a limited number of ways to do that!
Magic Kingdom Miscellaneous Update
Stitch
During our day, we spotted Stitch out saying hi to all his loving fans at the Tomorrowland Stage. He was LOVING all the attention he was getting and showed off all his poses for the cameras.
We guess if PeopleMover can’t be running, Stitch is a good consolation.

Tortuga Tavern
And, it doesn’t look like Tortuga Tavern will be opening up anytime soon. The register and counter area are being used as additional stroller parking for Pirates of the Caribbean now.
With no food to draw in the crowds, this is a great place to escape from the hustle and bustle — at least that’s what this duck was thinking! He was getting in his afternoon snooze on one of the benches.
We felt this little guy on a spiritual level — it can be tiring when you’re a Disney duck!
This Duck Is Us After a Long Day in Disney World
That’s all for our day at the Magic Kingdom! By the end of it, we were feeling EXACTLY like that little ducky. Stay tuned for more Disney news and updates!
