Walt Disney World is known for its magical sweet treats, from Dole Whip to cupcakes to Mickey Premium Bars.
Fortunately, you don’t have to try too hard to find most of those iconic eats! Even location-specific sweets like the caramel corn from Karamell-Küche at EPCOT or that fluffy cinnamon roll from Gaston’s Tavern in the Magic Kingdom just require a little wait in line or a few clicks on Mobile Order.
But, there are some desserts that are a bit more elusive. Some of the BEST desserts at Disney World, like the Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream, the Hummingbird Cake from Homecomin’, or the Grapefruit Cake from The Hollywood Brown Derby require an Advance Dining Reservation.
One of the questions we get a LOT is: Can you go to a Disney World restaurant and just get a dessert? A full meal at The Hollywood Brown Derby can be fine and dandy, but if you want to chase a Ronto Wrap with that grapefruit cake, can you?
And the answer is: YES! You can make a reservation for or go to a restaurant just for dessert! Feel free to score that reservation for some Ger’s Bread & Butter Pudding at Raglan Road in Disney Springs or the Original Banana Split at The Plaza Restaurant in Magic Kingdom.
Of course, by doing so, you’re taking up a table without ordering a full meal. That’s fine to do, but you should be considerate of the Cast Member serving you, and bump up your gratuity to an amount that would be comparable to what you’d tip if you ordered a full meal. Tipping $10 on a $10 sundae may seem excessive in theory, but a meal for two could easily surpass $50 at any Disney World spot, so tipping just 20% on that sundae means lost wages for your server.
So, go ahead! Grab a table at Jungle Navigation Co. LTD Skipper Canteen for the Kungaloosh! or at Beaches and Cream for, well, anything sweet. Just remember to be generous when you do!
