VIDEO: Disney Has Partnered with SeaWorld For a New Environmental Mission

We have seen Disney taking steps to help the environment in many ways. Recently, we have seen special trash cans in the park and a new reusable collection.

Now, Disney has partnered with several organizations to open the LARGEST coral reef rescue center of its kind!

Disney has partnered with SeaWorld, the Association of Zoos & Aquariums, the Fish & Wildlife Foundation of Florida, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and NOAA Fisheries to establish the Florida Coral Rescue Center. The Center, located in Orlando, is the largest facility of its kind and is used to preserve and protect corals that are native to Florida!

The Florida Coral Rescue Center houses around 745 specimens of coral, as well as newly bred offsprings! The Center’s goal is to eventually return these corals back to the ocean to help restore the reef environments along the Florida coast.

Disney highlights the work of Dr. Andy Stamper, who is a coral conservation expert and has partnered with Disney Cruise Line and Disney Conservation to rehabilitate coral reefs in The Bahamas. In 2007, Disney was the first to open a coral reef nursery in The Bahamas where they have been able to grow, care for, and release corals back into the ocean. The Disney Conservation fund has also been able to donate $17 million to marine conservation efforts all over the world!
