What We’re Talking About: Out-Of-State Disneyland Visitors, Secret Invasion, and Jim Henson

With this week’s edition of What We’re Talking About, Julia shares her thoughts about a Jim Henson biopic, Becky discusses the addition of Emilia Clarke to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and James shares his thoughts on the eventual return for out-of-staters to Disneyland.

What We’re Talking About – Disney and Universal Orlando News and Rumors

Disneyland can now technically allow out-of-state visitors under revised state guidelines. Revised guidelines in Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy now allow fully vaccinated out-of-state visitors to attend activities or events that are currently limited to California residents only. However, the resort has stated that currently they have no plans to allow out-of-state residents to enter the parks just yet.

James says what I’m at least thinking, as someone who also lives out of state: I’m going to be completely selfish here: as a guy living in Missouri who primary writes about Disneyland, this is the news I’ve been waiting for! The news of things reopening in Anaheim had been bittersweet for me, but I’m looking forward to making a trip out there soon!

Neil Patrick Harris really is all of us. He says he’ll keep bringing his family to Walt Disney World on a yearly basis, “until they can’t stand me.”

Spidey will be coming home….(there’s some joke about titles here.) But it won’t be immediately. The films will be coming to Disney+, after what will likely be an exclusivity deal ends with Netflix. Who else is excited?

Did you wonder what happened with 22 BEFORE meeting Joe Gardner? A new short called 22 Vs. Earth is coming to Disney+ on April 30.

Emilia Clarke is in final negotiations to join Marvel Studios’ Secret Invasion for Disney+. While her role is under wraps, she joins previously-reported cast Samuel L. Jackson, Ben Mendelsohn, Kingsley Ben-Adir, and Olivia Colman.

Becky has some thoughts: This is exciting! I would guess with such a big name, they’re not going to sign her for just a limited series, which means that she potentially could be in upcoming movies as well. I’m always for more girl power in the MCU.

While I’m still skeptical of the live action remakes, with Cruella coming out and it looking fantastic, this has me a little optimistic. A new project is in the works where Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo will play Cinderella’s evil stepsisters. The film is being envisioned as a fairy tale musical comedy that will end up re-imagining the story from the point of view of Anastasia and Drizella.

A new biopic is in the works from Disney about Jim Henson.  The movie will focus on Jim Henson desire to convince broadcasters that The Muppets was a great idea, as well as how he worked to get the characters on air. This will surely be a tearjerker!

Julia says: It’s still so weird to me to remember that Jim Henson is gone, because his spirit still seems so alive any time Kermit appears on TV. I’m very excited to see this when it comes out.

Also, Christina shared the BEST picture that just warms my heart!
