5 Things That Went Hilariously Horribly Wrong This Week in Disney World

Disney World is the Most Magical Place on Earth, but the Most Perfect Place on Earth? Not unless your idea of “perfect” is being taunted by a s’more.

Magic Kingdom

We typically have an AMAZING time when we visit Disney World, but we won’t pretend that everything always goes as smooth as the Skyliner (or, you know, not). For example, here are five things that went hilariously horribly wrong this week!

Is it just us, or has the past week felt like a YEAR? Between the weather whiplash, the imminent Disneyland reopening, and BIG changes throughout Disney World, we’ve felt a lot of feelings these last several days.

It’s a Poncho Kind of Day

Most of the time, things went great! See: fashion-forward cupcakes and cool Cast Member tattoos. But other times? Let’s just say we’re starting to feel like we’re being ghosted by the PeopleMover.

1. Mickey Waffle With “Graphic Content” Warning

Well, this was a new one! We’ve eaten our fair share of Mickey Waffles at Disney World, with ALL kinds of toppings, sauces, and flavors!

Is This What Mickey Waffle Dreams Are Made Of?

We’ve eaten Pumpkin Spice Mickey Waffles, and we’ve even eaten Minnie Waffles! But we haven’t eaten an R-rated Mickey Waffle…until now, apparently.

Mickey Waffle at Magic Kingdom

A recent Facebook post of ours, which featured a perfectly normal looking Mickey Waffle in front of Cinderella Castle, was marked as “graphic content,” and the image was blurred due to potential “sensitive” material.

Excuse us?!

Now, we get that some people might prefer savory waffles to sweet, but this seems a tad much, no? One Facebook commenter pointed out that perhaps it was because the Mickey Waffle didn’t have any sauces on it, so it appeared “naked,” but this was NOT the usual social media response we get from a waffle!

Can Anyone Tell Us Why This Mickey Waffle is Rated R?

2. Waiting 16 Minutes for a Treat That Was…Right in Front Of Us

Usually, when we’re ready for a sweet treat, we don’t have to wait TOO long to get our sugar fix! Unless of course we make the mistake of craving a cupcake right at rope drop.

Main Street Bakery

Seeing as most of Disney World’s baked goods are already made, packaged, and ready to serve, we’re typically only a couple minutes between hunger and sugar satisfaction, but this unfortunately was not the case this week at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge!

Wilderness Lodge

This “incident” will forever be remembered as the day the Roaring S’mores taunted us from the pastry case. It was literally sitting in the fridge within arm’s reach, yet we still wound up waiting 16 minutes to get it because they were a bit backed up on Mobile Orders.

Well it LOOKS promising

We totally get it, and we can only imagine the hustle required when a bunch of hungry cupcake-craving guests come all at once, but this was certainly the first (and hopefully last) time we’ve waited longer for a s’more than for a ride at Magic Kingdom.

Trapped Inside Because of a Snake

Cautionary signs warning of snakes and alligators are a common sight at Disney World, but it’s not too often that we see any at all, let alone get trapped indoors because of one!

Snake!

Proof that Florida wildlife is NO JOKE, our reporter Amber’s kids sent her a pic of a snake from their backyard while she was in the parks reporting! While there was still a full day of reporting ahead of her, she warned her kids to stay inside for a while. Even though the snakes were not AT Disney World, this certainly affected our reporter’s day in the parks!

WEATHER. ‘Nuff said.

We’ve said it time and time again, but weather at Disney World is wilder than Kilimanjaro Safaris. At least when we’re trekking through the savanna the worst that can happen is a cute traffic jam — we’re not having our Minnie Ears literally blown off our heads!

Rainy Day in the Magic Kingdom

Further proof of Florida’s intense weather took place this week, as the roller coaster of a forecast continued with HEAVY winds and torrential rain!

Tomorrowland on a “Severe Weather Warning” day

That’s all inconvenient enough, but it REALLY became a problem when the horrible weather came to a head precisely at the moment when everyone at Disney’s Hollywood Studios was trying to join a boarding group for Rise of the Resistance!

YIKES.

This meant that crowds of people were clustered inside the cave at Galaxy’s Edge to avoid the rain, while feverishly refreshing their phones, and attempting to socially distance, which is NOT easy during a weather crisis like this.

Here’s When Social Distancing Goes Out the Window in Disney World

The PeopleMover Fools Us Again (or Did It?)

For an attraction called the PeopleMover, this Magic Kingdom ride is doing a whole lot of NOT moving nowadays.

PeopleMover not moving

Time and time again (and again and again and again), we’ve been teased with a potential reopening of this long-dormant attraction, and just when we FINALLY thought it was going to be reopened todaywe were thwarted again!

Patiently waiting…

Oh, and not only was the ride closed when we arrived bright and early, but it started to rain! ‘Cause why not!

Not today!

At this point, we’re beginning to think the PeopleMover is just a mirage, or a figment of our imagination. Will it ever reopen? Does it even exist? Hard to say.

Soon!

After waiting about 7 hours in this area and questioning whether it would actually open today, the PeopleMover officially reopened! YAY!

We bet you can HEAR this photo…

Clearly, it’s been a wild week for us at Disney World, but through the ups and the hungry/wet downs, we wouldn’t have it any other way!
