NEWS: Florida Governor Extends State of Emergency Again

Things continue to evolve as the COVID-19 pandemic continues.

As vaccines continue to be distributed across the United States, states are looking at how they may ease restrictions to slowly make their way back to normalcy. And today, the CDC relaxed guidelines for outdoor mask wearing. However, Florida’s State of Emergency remains in place — and in fact, that order was just extended.

According to Click Orlando, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has extended the State of Emergency by another 60 days, following a pattern of extensions that has taken place since the order’s declaration on March 9th, 2020.

The order allows DeSantis to “direct funds as necessary for supplies, equipment and personnel needs.” However, the State of Emergency does not impose any travel restrictions on the state, so any trips to Florida should not be impacted. In fact, DeSantis recently filed a lawsuit over cruise restrictions, in an attempt to further open travel to the state.
