14 Foods That Still Haven’t Returned to Disney World

Lots of things have changed recently at Disney World. Some hotels are set to reopen soon, maskless photos can be taken outdoors, and we’ve even seen changes made when it comes to self-serve drink stations.

But, when it comes to food, there’s still quite a bit that is different from how things were prior to the park closures. Some fan-favorite restaurants are still closed and quite a lot of food hasn’t returned to the parks and hotels. So, today we’re going down our list and sharing some of those food items that are still missing from Disney World so you can plan ahead for your next trip (and not be SEVERELY disappointed when you find that *spoiler alert* beignets are not available from Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter 😭).

Keep in mind, this post is based on what we know at this time. But, menus and food options all around Disney World are subject to change! If you’ve got a very specific snack you’ve been hoping to try during your next trip, be sure to look for our future posts and check the menus before you arrive!

Alright, let’s dive in!

1. Noodles and More from ‘Ohana

We begin with several of the dishes from ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. This may very well be the one meal in Disney World where you feel like you just kept eating until you couldn’t anymore, but for many, it’s also a meal they’d do again in a heartbeat! ‘Ohana is still temporarily closed in Disney World, which means the incredible Pineapple-Coconut Bread, skewered meats, and OF COURSE those Teriyaki Noodles are still out of our reach.

Disney hasn’t announced when ‘Ohana might reopen, but if you’re looking to grab their signature Bread Pudding (which is seriously one of the BEST desserts on property), you can get it over at Kona Cafe!

2. Specialty Hot Dogs from Casey’s Corner

If you are a big fan of Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom, then you’re probably familiar with the unique specialty hot dogs this place used to have. For a while, Casey’s was serving up special hot dogs each month. And in early 2020, we even got a new hot dog for the Villains After Hours party. But, with Casey’s Corner temporarily closed, we haven’t been able to get specialty hot dogs there for a while.

Hades Hot Dog

You can still get unique hot dogs sometimes over at the Hot Diggity Dogs food truck in Disney Springs when it’s available. We even got a hot dog there earlier this year that was in a french toast batter-dipped and cereal crusted bun topped with spicy peanut butter spread and more. Yes, it was…unique!

King Dog

So, if you are looking for a unique hot dog treat, this might be a good place to go for now, until Casey’s Corner (hopefully) returns again!

3. Beignets from Disney’s Port Orleans Resort — French Quarter

Third on our list is one we mentioned right at the beginning — those delicious beignets from Disney’s Port Orleans Resort: French Quarter are still NOT back in Disney World! 😭

Gingerbread Beignets

French Quarter is closed at the moment, so we, unfortunately, can’t get these Mickey-shaped beauties and cover our entire outfits with powdered sugar for now. You can find beignets at Les Halles in France at EPCOT, but they won’t be Mickey-shaped!

BUT you can learn how to make them at home! Click here to see our video and step-by-step tutorial on how to make Mickey Beignets!

4. Hand-Scooped Ice Cream from the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor

Another treat that you can’t get in Disney World right now is hand-scooped ice cream and those elaborate sundaes from the Main Street Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in Magic Kingdom, as this spot is still temporarily closed.

It’s a Party Sundae

You can get soft-serve ice cream at different spots in the parks though, and even hand-scooped ice cream at places like Dino-Bite Snacks in Disney’s Animal Kingdom or Beaches & Cream Soda Shop in Disney’s Beach Club Resort. So, don’t worry ice cream lovers, there are still some options out there!

5. All-You-Care-To-Drink Shakes from the Plaza Restaurant

While The Plaza Restaurant in Magic Kingdom is open, and does have some shakes and desserts available, those all-you-care-to-drink beauties are currently gone.

Peanut Butter Cup Bottomless Milkshake

But, hey, no one’s stopping you from ordering 4 milkshakes all on your own!

6. A La Carte Menu from Liberty Tree Tavern

Right now you also can’t grab the A La Carte Menu at Liberty Tree Tavern in Magic Kingdom during lunchtime. Instead, you’ll be able to stuff yourself with the all-you-care-to-enjoy options during both lunch and dinner.

Bell Burger from the secret menu at Liberty Tree Tavern

The à la carte items were some of our favorites from past visits, including things like Clam Chowder and a REALLY good burger. But at least the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is still available!

Click here to see why we keep going back to Liberty Tree Tavern!

7. Burgers and Sundaes Experience at Restaurantosaurus

We got to try this special Burgers & Sundae dinner experience back in 2019 in Disney’s Animal Kingdom. It was really unique as it let diners enjoy a sit-down-style meal in Restaurantosaurus — which is typically a quick-service spot. During this experience, guests got to choose from some special burgers and a few side dishes. After you finished your main meal, you were then able to check out the build-your-own sundae bar!

Burgers and Sundaes Experience

This dining experience is not available at Restaurantosaurus at the moment, but Restaurantosaurus is open as a quick-service spot and you can still get some items there. Also, don’t forget to check out the Restaurantosaurus Lounge if you’re looking to grab a cocktail or specialty beverage in the park!

8. Pulled Pork Cheese Fries at Flame Tree Barbecue

The Pulled Pork Cheese Fries (made with fries, pulled pork, and plastic cheeeeeeeese) from Flame Tree Barbecue in Disney’s Animal Kingdom are on our list of french fry favorites, but they’re not available right now.

You CAN, however, still get the Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese here, which is topped with onion rings and coleslaw (and is totally delicious)!

9. Fried Herb and Garlic Cheese from ’50s Prime Time Cafe

Another dish that’s missing in Disney World is the Fried Herb and Garlic Cheese, which has disappeared from the menu at ’50s Prime Time Cafe in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This item is made of a wheel of fried cheese, served with fruit, raspberry sauce, and a piece of crusty bread. It’s one of our favorite items here. But, it has disappeared from the menu and reappeared previously, so we’ll keep an eye out to see if it (hopefully) returns in the future!

But, don’t worry, that Peanut Butter & Jelly Milkshake is still there!

10. The Monte Cristo at Bar Riva

The Monte Cristo is also missing from Bar Riva in Disney’s Riviera Resort at the moment. This dish is made with ham, turkey, gruyere, and strawberry preserves on a brioche roll — that has all been deep-fried (of course)! The Monte Cristo is a cult classic over at Disneyland, so we were thrilled to find a version that was nearly IDENTICAL in Disney World. But, it’s not available at the moment.

Bar Riva’s Monte Cristo

We were, however, recently BLOWN AWAY by the Grilled Chicken Sandwich at Bar Riva and the fries which have some delicious cheese and herbs that really take them to the next level! So, you can still check out other options at this fantastic spot right now.

11. Prime Rib Slider from The Crew’s Cup Lounge

The Crew’s Cup Lounge in Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is another spot that’s temporarily closed at the moment. It has been MONTHS since we last had the ridiculously amazing Prime Rib Sliders from this restaurant (which are served on onion rolls, with horseradish cream and au jus, and don’t forget to order a side of Beer Cheese)!

Come back to us Prime Rib Sliders!

12. Giant Cotton Candy in the China Pavilion

During the 2019 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, for some time after the Festival ended, and through the 2019 International Festival of the Holidays and part of the 2020 International Flower & Garden Festival, we got the opportunity to grab those signature GIANT Cotton Candy creations from the Cotton Candy Artisan in EPCOT’s China pavilion.

5-Layered Spring Fantasy Cotton Candy

The cotton candy didn’t return to the 2021 International Flower & Garden Festival and we haven’t really heard any updates on it recently. But, you can usually still get other snacks in China, including some pretty interesting chip flavors — so be sure to look out for those!

You can EAT your coffee with some chips we found in the China pavilion! Check out our review here!

13. Gourmet Popcorn in EPCOT’s Future World

If you’re a HUGE fan of popcorn (and especially flavored popcorn), you’ve probably made quite a few trips to the Gourmet Popcorn cart over in EPCOT’s Future World near the Imagination Pavilion. This is the cart that used to serve up some delicious popcorn flavors like Cheddar Cheese, Buffalo Bleu Cheese, and Sour Cream and Chive! Pro tip: MIX THEM!

YUM!

While we did find a new popcorn bucket at this stand a few months ago, the signature, gourmet popcorn flavors have not yet returned. If you’re looking for unique popcorn though, you can still get the Maple Popcorn in Canada or the incredibly delicious Caramel Corn over in the Germany pavilion.

14. Outpost Popcorn Mix from Kat Saka’s Kettle

Popcorn and Star Wars fans may also be disappointed to learn that Kat Saka’s Kettle is still closed in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, meaning you can’t currently get the Outpost popcorn mix or any other unique creations (see: GREEN popcorn) from this spot.

Outpost Popcorn Mix

But, not too far away, you can still grab the ever-popular Ronto Wrap and even some new wrap creations. So, there’s still quite a lot of delicious food to be had in this area of the park!

Click here to see our review of the NEW lunch wrap at Ronto Roasters!

And that’s our list of 14 of the foods that haven’t returned to Disney World. But, of course, there are more. We’re still missing out on the Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese from Eight Spoon Cafe (temporarily closed) in Disney’s Animal Kingdom…

YUUUUMMMM

…and we’re still waiting for the return of the beloved Nudel Gratin from Sommerfest in EPCOT’s Germany pavilion (this spot has reopened, but it has a much more limited menu).

We’ll definitely be on the lookout for any more updates about all kinds of delicious treats in Disney World and we’ll let you know what we find! Stay tuned for all the latest updates!
