Review: A New Disney World Treat Doesn’t Look Tropical, But It Totally Is

Snacks all over Disney World have been getting a colorful makeover in honor of Pride Month!

Pride Donut

Just today we’ve tried a rainbow cocktail, a GIANT rainbow cake, a rainbow donut, and even a boozy rainbow Dole Whip flight (!!). So, at this point, we almost feel like we walked into the middle of a Skittles commercial at Disney World — there is a LOT of color going on here! But, we’re not done just yet!

Tucked away inside The Land in EPCOT, we found a brand new colorful treat at Sunshine Seasons! Now, this spot doesn’t get specialty snacks all that often, so we were pretty excited to see the new Mickey Rainbow Dome Cake on the menu!

Well looky here, a new menu item has arrived!

This ‘lil guy is a Tres Leches Mousse and Toasted Coconut Dome with a Mirror Glaze for $5.95 and we must say it LOOKS amazing! Just check out that shine!

Shiiiiiiny

So, enough about the looks, what about the taste? Well, tres leches fans may be a little disappointed to learn that this spin on the “milk cake.” There is cake there, but it’s not wet like you may be used to. And instead, all the flavor is packed into the mousse. So, that cake you see at the base there is just a simple vanilla cake.

It’s not your traditional tres leches cake

But, if you can get past not having a wet cake at the bottom, then this snack is a winner! The coconut flavor comes through in every bite and you can even feel the toasted coconut in the texture of the dome as you eat. Plus, the coconut combines well with the VERY prominent cinnamon flavor to give the dessert a tropical taste overall!

All the goodness in one bite!

If you’re not a fan of cinnamon or coconut then you probably won’t love this treat all that much, but not to worry, there are plenty of other treats to try around the parks and resorts! And, if a tropical tres leches sounds like your jam, you can head on over to Sunshine Seasons in EPCOT and grab yourself a Mickey Rainbow Dome Cake!

We’ve still got more rainbow concoctions to try, so stay tuned for more Disney food updates!
